This set took me appr. 9 years to bring it up to this level. I still have upgrades to do on the 1908, 1906, 1920 (narrow "O") and I need to acquire a high grade 1910 (Victorian Leaves). Ones mentioned are tough pieces to acquire in high grade, I thought judging by the mintages they would be easy to get and some of my first, WOW, was I mistaken! Glenn

Wow glennzy1, that's an amazing list of coins ... I only have a few nice 50 cent pieces ("so far") ... Ummm, but I see that you are missing the infamous 1947 Maple-Leaf Curved-7 ... I had a chance to bid on one a few months back (~$3000), but sadly I didn't have that kind of spare cash at that time Is that going to be the final jewel in your collection?

Hello Stevex6, I'm not sure I wanna spend that kind of money for an F-12 on a '47, CR7Right,ML. I would prefer to upgrade a Vicky or Edwardian instead, however, I haven't completely ruled out the possibility. It's funny how a Collector hits a brick wall when you get deeper into a particular decimal set. At first the coins were flowing 4-6 / month, now if I'm lucky it's 1 every 6 month's. The higher the level of coins you acquire, the harder it is to upgrade or acquire new ones that will nicley "fit" in to the level of what you have. Ironically one of the TOUGHEST halves I've ever had to find, which I finally did, was an I.C.C.S., 1943, Near "3", MS-64,Cameo. I know the trend value is a mere couple of hundred dollars, but O.M.G., I wouldn't part with mine for triple the trends. Glenn

glenzy1 => I agree that your list doesn't contain too many coins in the ol' "Fine" category ... I'm getting kinda picky like that with my "quarters", but my 50 cent piece collection is still in its infancy-stage ... My two nicest 50's are probably my 1947 Maple Leaf Straight-7 and my 1948 ... they're certainly not in your Dominion of Canada league, but they're a start: => just baby-steps towards a super collection (but still steps) EDIT => hey, can somebody tell me if my 1948 is an "ND" or a "WD"? (I'm horrible at that part of our hobby) ... thanks

The 1948 looks to be a Wide Date... A High 4 is a wide date, and a low 4 is a Narrow Date.... As far as I can tell this is a high 4. Only about one in eight 1948s is a high 4.
Note that the Straight 7 1947ML has a repunched 7. Late in the Die State the repunch will almost disappear, but all Straight 7 Maple Leaf coins have a repunched 7, and are a rework (Die polished and Maple Leaf added) of one of the six Straight 7 (non-Maple Leaf) Dies that were used.

thanks pginrh Ummm, while we're at it ... my 1947 was given an ICCS MS62 .... but because I inherited the 1948 I have never had it graded (any idea from the semi-suspect photos that I've provided?) ... anybody want to hazard a guess? thanks again
