Seems that I am following your steps I completed the silver and clad sets in a Dansco. I have got three plain pages for dimes and I am trying now to fill one with Clad proofs. I will try to fill the other two with Mercury dimes as I dont have except 2 coins only. jbuck: What did you do with the dansco page regarding the dates under each coin... did you write it under each hole or did you use a sticker under each coin .... or just left it as it is without any dates?

If you're interested in Mercury dimes you could do a short set. Because of the great depression, no dimes were minted in 1932 or 1933. That neatly divides the set into two halves, 1916-1931 and 1934-1945. All the expensive dates are in the first half, so the second half makes a good option for a budget collector. A few can get pricey in higher uncirculated grades, but in circulated condition all can be had for little over the silver melt value.

Thanks captainfwiffo for the info. Whenever I complete a set, I replace it with another on my list of current projects. I have replaced the Kennedy half with Franklin, State Quarters with 1965-1998 clad Washington quarters, Jefferson nickels with a Nickel type set and once I complete the Roosevelt proofs I will go directly to Mercury dimes. I will follow your advice and try the 1934-1945 set. Thanks for the advice much appreciated

I just left it as is, no labels. I have considered adding some labels, but it has been a low priority idea. After all, at least the coins have dates on them.

Thanks Carl and it is really me who are jealous that you all have a much easier access to all these beautiful coins. I just cant imagine the feeling of searching boxes and bags of coins as many of you do

Thanks coinmap Quote:and just think, next year, when you get your 2012's, you will have completed it, again! this is what I dont like about coin sets that are still running that you will always have dates to add to make it remain complete

Are you able to directly order mint sets from the US mint? You should be able to keep up-to-date on all your sets that way.

that is awesome. I havent even tried to start a collection. I have around 400 Lbs of straight copper pennies just sitting, x5 that in post 1982 zinc pennies. and an untold number of wheats numbering in the hundreds of thousands. wont go through those as they are unsearched and I sell them that way. I need some worker elves to sort through them

I'm always impressed by your ability to collect US coins from Egypt. Let us know when you start a seated half collection!
