If you would like to see a better resolution pic here is a link for it. Thank you for any feedback on these pennies. I am wondering how many it would take to make them a variety as the first roll alone had 15. http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/...thspikes.png |

I went to the bank yesterday to pick up a couple more cent boxes to search. When I got home I discovered that one of the boxes (2500 coins) was a sealed box directly from the mint with magnetic 2011 cents, just as Dvereckis found. This leads me to believe that these are not "Rare".

I checked couple of rolls of 2011's last night. The result was 1 non-magnetic and 99 magnetic.

Lately most of the pennies have been magnetic. It should be a split right down the middle. In a previous reply, I made a mistake with the 2009 ratio. It should have read: '2009's were about 90/10 in favour of the magnetics' (not in favour of the non-mags). I'm probably still wrong on all counts, but will be able to rest easier.  |

Hello everyone:
No one has ever picked up this forum since a long time ago. Here's my West Coast report: Since the beginning of the year 2012, all the cents, 2011 cents I received are magnetic.

Another thing, I hope the RCM report can come out Soon, so I could see the mintage of the coin and state whether they're rare or not. Anoyone know when they're going to be out? |

When I sorted my pennies to choose the nicest one for my collection I've noticed that some of my 2011 pennies were magnetic. It didn't seem to me to be very scarce. For the 2009 non-magnetic I have noticed at the end of the year that there were a lot of them getting them regularly in my change. I've check the 2010 RCM annual report and they make a distinction between the zinc coated and the steel coated pennies. Here are the figures for 2009 mintage: ZPC 419 105 000 SPC 36 575 000 So for me it is not a rare variety at that quantity. |

I must have gone through far too many boxes since starting this a few years ago. I was only guessing at 10% of the 2009's were zinc, and after checking the annual report, it ends up being 8.03%. My original guess was based upon the occurrence during sorting here...  I'll stick with 50/50 for 2011. Edited by staircase

Hello everyone:
I heard that there are 2012 magnetic cents. I also heard last year that the last magnetic blanks were all minted to coins last year. So, has anyone received a 2012 mag cent?
Please post up your opinions and facts on this.

Are you sure that the report comes out on March 31st? I have been waiting with full of anticipation. Is there a different link for the report of this year, or is it simply that the report has not came out yet?
