Quote: but... I don't know of any CCFer who has one... If Moe doesn't have one - we may not see an 1815. An F15 just sold for $3200 at Heritage and ebay sold a couple of rough ones last week in the $1500 range but the $11,000 one is still available. Great post Jeffrose We all follow the craziness on ebay so I just created my own 1815 variety. I'll call it the 'extremely rare X over 3 variety' and price it for around $25,000. Think anyone would bid?

I found one 1815 Capped Bust half dollar slabbed by NGC XF-45 at an online retailer, for only 7495.00 + $5 s+h. Maybe my Secret Santa will bring one.

It's not hard to see why this U.S. half dollar coin attracts so much adoration. I can't officially participate in the show'n'tell until Sunday; however it seems this particular year is inducing some inspired cheating.. It's unfortunate from a collector's point of view that the series contains gaps, but hey, now that there are computers, there is no excuse for missing years! Here's my entry into the 'rare variety' category. I call it the '5-minute photoshop' example, one pit stop on the way to serious fakery.. I price it at fifty centavos.. odd how it seems to have the same die cracks as a previously posted specimen..
