Moe . . I think it is either O-116 or 116a - you'll need to take a closer look @ die cracks on rev - at least got you in the right ballpark

Quote: Moe . . I think it is either O-116 or 116a - you'll need to take a closer look @ die cracks on rev Sweet call, my friend! The reverse die cracks really help define this one. The lack of description of just the right die crack on the obverse was throwing me! (This was apparently minted just before the left die crack through the 1-7 stars developed). The O-116a, R1 Die Marriages Diagnostics (From Coinzip.com) Quote: The obverse was struck using Obverse Die 10-s3. This was the second of two uses of this die. It was first used to strike the O-115.
This is the only use of Reverse Die O.
The die crack diagnostics for this die marriage in the Overton/Parsley books - both the 3rd and the 4th Editions - are completely messed up.
BOTTOM LINE: The EDS O-116 does NOT exist. The die crack diagnostics are different in the editions of Overton, but this does not matter because - as described in either book - none have been found. ...but it is a R1 coin.
(1) To the right of the upper loop of the 8 there is a fine recutting. It cannot be seen on late die states.
(2) There is a scribe line beneath four dentils to the right of star 7. This has been lapped off in late die states. (green arrows)
(3) A and M are very close with the A below the M.
(4) Most, but not all, specimens show a fine die crack that joins STATES OF AMERICA and continues across arrowheads to 50 C and to milling below leaves. The extreme die cracks tend to lead me to the medium die state of O-116a. Eventually there will be another die crack that goes left, joining all the left stars as well.

I have had my eye on the mailbox for a few days hoping I would be able to contribute today. Look at what the mailman brought just today! The best description of my collecting habit would be that I am a type collector. I have a few Bust Halves (one more today!) but I'm not so avid about them I delve into the Overton numbers. I don't have an O# for a single one but I still like them and this one especially for the partially filled "N" and "S" on the reverse.

My one and only... Previously listed as O-117 by Zeewool. Feel free to confirm or deny, as I am not a CBH expert.
