The reverse may help tell the tale if there is enough detail left. All 70's dates with the exception of 1877 business strikes are known to have a bold N reverse. 1870, 71, 72 are known to have both bold N and shallow N reverses. Business strikes of 1877 are known to have only a shallow N reverse (the proofs of that year have a bold N).

If this coin has a shallow N reverse, it would effectively rule out a 73 or 75.

The more I look at this, I think a 5 is also strong possibility.

I can hardly wait for a reverse pic. This one has my curiosity going!

Looks like 1875 to me.

That's the key...if there is enough detail left. This coin has a barely discernible everything, even liberty's face. I don't think there will be enough evidence to conclusively tell if its bold or shallow.
