this is a re post with better pics to see either die crack at 4:00 and 8:00 or Cud, these are in the plain field before edge.

A 4:00 you have a die crack that starts a rim but does not quite return to the rim.At 8:00 you have a small crack or perhaps just a gouge.

Too small for me to notice even though is there as you pointed out. I am not sure about the Cud if its really what is suppose to be.

A Cud is where the edge of the die breaks off. This is definitely not a Cud.

There are many West Virginia quarters with small die breaks in the 4 o'clock position. This one may be a retained die break, but I don't see where the crack connects with the rim again.

It's not a die crack or a Cud, it's a type of Die Deterioration.
