You probably dont have enough coins to cover a coffee table but that idea of erkles has crossed my mind also. If not a coffee table I think some drink coasters would be good. A cork bottom with coins glued to it and them some sot of resin or glass sealing the top of them. I think it would look very cool and might have to try it myself.. I have made bracelets out of Australian sixpences before and they always look good.

How about gluing them on the inside of the dunny door with blue tack.
That way you won't hurt the coins too much and it's somthing to look at instead of the newspaper while you are otherwise occupied
Your visitors will be intrigued with the idea anyway

my grandpa left me a tie clip that has 4 scrap coins glued to it. An Indian Head cent, a silver Washington quarter, and two Buffalo nickels. They are all cut so it looks like they are stacked on top of each other and spread out, but they lay flat and make a nice classic tie clip. You could incorporate this into a number of different items.

I have seen:
necklaces,
bracelets,
rings,
Mercury dimes made into markers for golf balls,
several strung together for a wind chime,
make a wish in a fountain,
