Went to the mint store in Vancouver today and picked up $2.00 worth of Wood Bison 2011 coloured quarter. Only 8 per person per day. They are going to do the same with the Orca in Feb and the Falcon in March. I already have a few of these from the 2011 uncirculated Parks Canada Sets, but it's nice to get a few at face value.

is it just the pics or is there really no detail to the Queen?

Well, she got run over by a wood bison on her way to a housecleaning job and this is how she's appeared ever since.
I think it's just the photos, I fiddled with the contrast and detail is there.

Thanks for clearing that up Ugly, yes it's just the pic. You can tell I'm not a photographer. I can assure you there is plenty of detail in the queen. After getting run over by the wood bison she jumped right back up and dusted herself off

I tried a different angle, here's what the obverse should look like.

Nice pics. Though I don't really like colorized coins, I don't mind this one that much.

Called the RBC to see when they are getting the new quarters in and they know nothing about them.
So who is going to put them into cirulation?

It looks as though they are being put into circulation right now directly through the Mint. I went back today to pick up another 8 quarters and this time there were 5 other people in the store also getting some quarters. I'd imagine that most people picking them up this way aren't going to go out and spend them but they are offically being "circulated". I did ask about rolls and they told me that if they still have quarters left tomorrow at about 5pm (tomorrow is the last day of distribution until 6pm) then they will let people have as many as they want and wave the 8 quarters per person.
Just to clarify, this is what I was told by the staff at the Vancouver store, the same staff that I've never been very impressed with in past dealings. They are also going to do the same promotion for the coloured orca in Feb and the coloured falcon in March. Hopefully I'll have my sets I ordered before then.

I went to my local RBC (Brampton ON) where I always go for new rolls and asked...
The teller informed me that they no longer distribute new rolls and only hand out recycled rolls of coins now. Something new for all RBC branches?
