I guess "27 Days of Mercury dimes" doesn't have a halftime, but Mercury dimes as a series did. Dunno if it was as depressing as a Superbowl halftime. CaptainFwiffo Pillar of the Community United States 4132 Posts	Posted 01/31/2012 1:46 pm They were a tourist-trap type thing, like elongated or counterstamped cents. It was the atomic age, and everything atomic related was newfangled and cool. You could go to the atomic energy museum, get your dime irradiated, hear it on a Geiger counter, and then have a little souvenir to take home (though most of the radioactivity was gone by the time you left). It seems slightly crazy nowadays (though it was an exceedingly harmless amount of radiation), but there was stuff that was much, much crazier. Report this Post to the Staff
