The 1941 large S varieties in AU and mint state are difficult to find, percentage wise the 41 S are estimated at 10-15 per regular S to one large S, but in mint state, that number of ratio is much higher.
I sometime get tire of looking at all those MM's when searching for varieties, but the reward of finding one is greater, so is the $$$ factor.

1942:   1942-D:   This one looks super nice in-hand, but the slab is kinda scuzzed up, so it's impossible to get a good picture. 1942-D:  The seller's picture is better, but it doesn't really capture it.  1942-S: This is also nicer in hand, all blue around the rim.   ZZZAP!   |

@macmercury: Can't you cash in on the slab's guarantee if you think they got it wrong? The reverse does look weird. It looks like the die was over-polished on the periphery, or maybe wasn't hubbed completely, because the letters are sinking into the field.

I will look into NGC guaranteed policy, bought this a while back and normally I pay close attention, but must of been tire that day for reasons unknown.
