Quote: I start to wonder how many 20 for 20 should I buy(or exchange). if they can be spent everywhere just like $20 bank note, basically I should get as many as possible, but some member here mentioned in the previous post that NCLT is NOT meant to be accepted as currency... This came up when the first $20 for $20 coin came out. A poster on another forum tried 5 places at Tim Horton's, all rejected the coin. Legal tender can still be rejected by the store. Just like how some places won't take 50's or 100's. If you want to bring it to the bank, they get you to fill out some paperwork, they do some sort of "assay", and about 2-3 weeks later, $20 deposited into your account. Of course, I'm sure the person that did that is currently with how the first coin is selling on the aftermarket!

Got my 20 in the mail today....that's 20 of the $20 coin. My rep indicated that they discussed 'no limits' on this edition. If true, I expect the fastest sell out ever at the mint.
When the first issue (maple leaves) came a year ago, I was told that these are NOT NCLT, but rather legal tender, and can be used anywhere, any time. Anybody that refused to accept them is actually in the wrong. Conversely, with the comparative low mintage for currency, the spender would be considered slightly demented.

Quote: ... try typing "Gazette 30" as a free shipping code... vinnycoin Thanks! Being into CCF has it's benefits! I ordered my 3 and probably won't continue investing in the series. The first three of the series will probably be the end of it for me because even me mom (a granny coin collector!) has lost interest ... and I've been ordering them for... well, 1 for her 2 for me. I think that the frequency of the 20 for 20 coins kinda put her off... like, uhm, not being uncommon or something such. A good business strategy for the RCM though I 'spose.

^I agree 3 is too many coins in a year. The RCM should pull back to two or even one a year. Mintage should stay the same. Keep the "limits" on coins in reason, maybe every set you buy entitles you to an extra set next time and so on up to some limit. Artwork should stay high. The Canoe was nice. The Polar Bear is a really great coin, it is really well done in a few ways. North America ONLY. It would be a good series to collect for lots of reasons then. Everyone can get them, good price, has a little numismatic potential, good artwork and subject matter, RCM makes some money as well. If you change the balance this coin has now... the series will fall... but if you keep the coin as is I think it will do well. Be the First RCM... lol...

The problem with the Mint is that they overgraze the market. Producing so many in one year at such high mintages squeezes the heck out of the market. Instead of waiting eagerly with your 20 bucks ready for the coin the come out, collectors will be trying to figure out if there was any of the coins they missed and whether it is worth getting. We don't need to have 100 of these in 10 years. It just ruins it.

Received my three today. One of the reviewers on the RCM website noted that all three of their coins had cuts in the little plastic flips that they are kept in. Only one of mine was this way, the other two were okay. At least this time the folder came shipped in a box and it wasn't damaged. The three canoe coins were shipped in an envelope and the folder got bent up as well as all three coin flips torn up. It seems the plastic flips aren't very sturdy and they crack when the coin and its case slide back and forth inside during shipment.

Must say my feeling on the coin is a bit mixed. I thought the design would've worked out a lot better than it did. Keep wondering if another combination of PF and BU finish would give the coin a better look.

For people wanting to buy the $20 for $20 Polar Bear, better do it soon. It is already 58% sold.

Wow, 58% sold in just 9 days!
This could be the fastest time to sell out.

If it does sell out in record time, I hope the Mint doesn't use that as an excuse to bump up the mintage of future coins in this series. I just think 250,000 is alot plus there are 2 more coins to be released later this year.

At this rate Id suspect they'll be sold off within 25 days, hate to see the Mint decide that means they should make more.
On a related note, anyone know how long this series is planned to run?

RCM's banking on the public (not just collectors) so think "meh, it's trading $20 of $20"
