Fresh back from BCS...I had bought these in the 1999 auction. At the time, you had to buy the sets in lots of 5, but I had sold 4 sets, but I was able to 'liberate' this set from my brother. Grades ranged from 60 to 63

The "famous" Bank of Canada auction in November 1999, which I believe was conducted by Charles Moore. They were extremely expensive, and the 1969-79 series was sold in lots of 5 sets...I remember paying almost $400 a set....the 1954 series went for big bucks, and I only got a single $2 and $5, as the sets were limited.

I found that 1996 $2 Coin and bank note set in one of my boxes...is it worth anything? I was hoping the note was worthy of sending to BCS, but it's wrapped so tight in the plastic, the corners look compromised.

Everyone looks like they have a very nice collection.

Here's my own little collection. Bills are a bit expensive to for me keep even at face compared to coins so these are the only ones I have so far:

Post-Your-Paper-Money-Collections.

Most are still pretty firm even though not in the best condition (all below XF), but the Confederation one is worth face. I wonder who and why write on this?

Post-Your-Paper-Money-Collections.

"Rescued" from the bank, they were about to send these out.

*blows dust off the thread*

Here's my latest $1 note, it was discussed in the Grading forum.

Post-Your-Paper-Money-Collections.

Just amazed that there are are still Devil's Face out there being circulated. Another bank rescue, I found out that they had sent out the rest of the $1 notes by the next day. Very lucky, I usually go there on Saturdays, but that Friday I happen to be in the area and decided to drop in. I had to leave some of the more worn 1973 issues because I didn't bring enough money with me that Friday, and when I returned on Saturday to get them, they had been sent out. I thought they kept money in the branch for longer but apparently I was wrong.

I see some of the Devil's Face notes here are graded, but there's nothing special about this note other than being a Devil's Face. What do you think, is it worth for this to be sent to a TPG? Or should I just keep it raw for now?

I would personally keep it raw... I'm a bigger fan of raw notes than TPG notes... Also the cost would cut into any profits you may have with the value of the note.

Having said that.. If you eventually can get a bulk discount... and you're a few notes shy I would probably throw this one into the pile to be graded..

Thanks Ag, but it looks like I need at least 10 notes for a bulk discount by BCS (because it looks like the TPG that is most often seen here), and 50 for a bigger discount. Don't think I'll have that much notes, I just like having some old money which is why I ask the bank if someone's turned in anything old or odd. May be sometime in the future, when I do have more worth to grade. Plus, I'm more of a Coin roll hunter than a banknote collector.

Most aren't in as good condition as this Devil's Face. So just imagine how surprised I was when I brought this crisp bill home and read the date off it! And then confirmed by the community as a Devil's Face too! Now I say to the note, "You lucky devil " and I'll take care this note as best as I can, it would be what its caretaker(s) before me would want.
Sorry, got distracted, I'm still very happy with it I always get distracted anyway...

I'm sending the 1923 $1 that I posted on page 28 to BCS for grading. Should have it back next Friday.

I'll post the grade and a picture when I get it back.
