Quote:When you say you're pointing out another ebay moron, are you pointing that at the seller or the buyers? I can't tell the difference. Neither do I. He seeds the rolls in an obvious way and put them up for bidding. Only a moron would think they are going to get anything other than common wheat's outside of the seeds. Especially when the number of rolls with all the Dimes, IHC's & FEC's Just happened to come out of the coin counter in that fashion. Don't get me wrong, I don't condone this selling tactic, but he ain't makin' no body bid. Just sayin'

A "Lesson Learned" that pops up here on CCF fairly regularly (and for the most part, great words to live by): "An Unsearched Roll is VERY RARELY unsearched". No real surprise, by the way...

Here is the answer that I received:
Dear studmv,
Hi.
I do not advertise my items as unsearched rolls. I advertise them as having unsearched wheat cents inside.
I make up some of the rolls and buy others to sell from a local dealer who makes them up.
I hope this helps.

IF I were to respond:
Dear Tom, Thanks you for your reply. But gee, you say: "These are rolls of Unsearched Wheat Cents....."
Well, I am so sorry that I am confused.
Or words to that effect.
Boy, the guy knows how to use language: " ... rolls of Unsearched Wheat Cents ..." and "I do not advertise my items as unsearched rolls. I advertise them as having unsearched wheat cents inside."
The sad fact is: As much as we folk of the CCF wish to keep people from making costly mistakes, unless a person does his or her homework BEFORE buying these costly mistakes will happen. And we are powerless to intervene.

I received the exact same reply. Now my question is; if only the wheat cents are "Unsearched" why does he clearly state in his description that people have found 1916-D Mercury dimes? Quote:1916-d Mercury dime found April, 2010! 1916-d Mercury dime found June, 2010! 1916-d Mercury dime found July, 2010! 1916-d Mercury dime found August, 2010! 1916-d Mercury dime found October, 2010! 1916-d Mercury dime found December, 2010!

When are people going to stop wasting their money on these scams? I don't know whom I disrespect more, the sellers or the buyers who allow this to continue.

I must say, the seller has great customer service. Most rolls I seell are bought from a local dealer but I do make some rolls myself for sale with coins I buy from on here.
The dealer is contracted to put a certain amopunt of Key/Semi-Key copins in the mix......so every now and then I real nice coin is found.
You know.....if you are wary then please don't bid. My feedbaack is 99.9%. It doesn't get much better than that.....but I can see if you are hesitant.
Hope this helps.

Wow, Great work on this. I did have him set up as a ebay auctions to watch. I guess I can remove this one from my list now. I did wonder where he was comming up with all these rolls like this since this summer. Thanks all~!

I wonder how much money this guy makes doing this? I noticed him a few months back and saw where he purchased the coins in the "unsearched" rolls himself on ebay. I came across him by trolling the "ending soonest" feature and was amazed at how much some of his rolls were bringing. He is one of three or four sellers that do this that I've ran across.

The only one of these sellers I think is remotely right in advertising as "unsearched" is the fellow that sells the 1000 penny sealed bags for like $80..even there though, I can envision him or someone that works for him looking at each bag and moving each of the thousand penny's into a clear section of the bag to ensure there aren't any 1909 vdbs are some such...God that job would suck... :)
If I were a penny collector I'd buy one of his bags just to check it out...but I'm not.

If you look at the feedback of some of the sellers, they have will have feedback names that recur every so often, usually with the statement that they received a key date of some sort, or a jewel in the case of sellers who advertise that every one in twenty gets a ruby or other nonsense.
