I have searched 44 rolls (not much, I know) and I have found 2 so far. I guess I am not doing too bad. Report this Post to the Staff
biggfredd Rest in Peace United States 9104 Posts	Posted 02/05/2012 03:11 am You're doing great, I'd figger closer to one per $100. Back in the 70s, I found as many as 25 in one roll. If you find any 1944 without mintmark, those are the scarcest one. Report this Post to the Staff
biggfredd Rest in Peace United States 9104 Posts	Posted 02/05/2012 03:17 am When I was young and stupid (as opposed to being old and stupid), I'd go to the bank and get $30 or so in nickels, take them over to the counter to look thru, replace the ones I pulled, and swap them for others. I might go through $200 in a day. Eventually they told me they'd sell or trade all I wanted, but I had to sort them at home. Report this Post to the Staff

If you go to a credit union, they might have a coin counter. if they do, their customers bring in massive amounts of horded coins and they dont have to roll them. Mine does. Ask then for a bag of nickels they are about to send to the federal reserve because they have excess coins. You are going to have better luck finding some War Nickels in there then rolled coins coming from the federal reserve back to the banks. trust me. Report this Post to the Staff
