Yay! Hauled in my second 3 1/2 claw 20c from this weeks change. The big rim Cud on the $2 coin was a nice find, but the 3 1/2 claw is far more rewarding I reckon Still have heaps of goodies I'd love to fish out of the pond, so I hope the Westralians will see me right.

Went through 100 $1 coins last night, reserving 12 of the nicest for the "pub coin" exercise . Just as I was reviewing the stacks of commemorative coins after the initial "noodle", I noticed that one of the "Henry Parkes 1996"coins looked different. This one had a "C" mintmark to the right-bottom of the beard of HP. This mintmark is not so easy to see, so it was good that I put all of the Henry Parkes coins side by side for final inspection before returning these to the purse for disposal. See pic below. From McDonald I see that the "C" mint mark corresponds to "mint your own coin"= 149500 made. Or "issued at the Royal Canberra Show"= 1500 made. Or "sold through mailing lists or to dealers"= 101760 made. So that means this coin is about as rare as a 50 cent "incused" !. Lucky Friday Squire

I think the "A" mint mark version of this coin is even more scarce, enworb. Have to check up McDonald tonight for the mintage numbers. Thanks Trainerman. I think the important message to take home here is that the mint mark is not so obvious to see. You have to look very carefully. Knowing where to look and having a loupe handy certainly helps Squire

That's a good pickup, for sure. Well spotted! Quote: Knowing where to look and having a loupe handy certainly helps It would be most useful if someone could list/show pics of the various mintmarks, so noodlers know where on the coin to look Maccas doesn't show pics of all the mintmarks' locations; just lists the letters which can be found on a particular issue.....

No problem, These are all bu coins so the mint marks are easily visible and will give you a point of reference for them 1/ Korean war 2003 c mintmark 2/ Wheat Sheaf c mint mark 3/citzenship 2009 m mint mark 4/ Coat of Arms 2008 c mint mark 5/ Eureka Stockade 2004 s mint mark 6/ gallipoli 2005 c mint mark 7/ Sydney Harbour Bridge 2007 c mint mark 8/ Citezenship 2009 b mint mark 9/ TV 2006 B mint mark 10/ Rams Head 2011 H mint mark 11/ Dollar Decade 1994 C mint mark 12/ Year of the Outback M mint mark

As promised, following are pictures of the pick of this week's noodling crop. This is about a third of the coins I have put aside. After a close inspection of all, then a similar number to this will likely be returned to circulation. Not many Centenary of Federation this week but many more 1995 UN 20¢ than I have been seeing lately. All in all, a very good week with a near perfect ram's head (wonder where it has been hiding last 20 years )and a quite good incused millennium. Would be nice if every week was as good. Some of these will find there way to my ebay listings but some might also take up residence here. Jeff

A very nice haul Jeff A lot of the coins look to be in very good condition: Nice incused UN and Bradman coins in good condition Check the orientation of the "7" in the 1970 Captain Cook coins. "Would be nice if every week was as good". But then the thrill of finding an "incused" or a "Bradman" or a "UN" would quickly wane Squire
