I have 7 I got cheap but wont be buying any more. They seem to be popping up quite regularly and I agree with AA that they will most likely never be a highly sought after variety. They are very nice though and i'll be keeping mine.

I think the same thing was said about the incused 2000 50 cents when it was first discovered This IS a new error discovery and In my opinion was discovered by larena in Febuary this year They are well worth hanging onto

I think that Larena's "bubble" has some similarities to the wavy. I think it is the same in that a single die has been damaged and then used in production. However the damage is smaller than the wavy. The single die is also similar to other error coins like the 2000 mule, the incused 50c, the rotated coins. I think the "how spectacular is it" rating of the bubble is above a normal Cud because it fits into the design and the damage is unusual, but below the mule or wavy or incused 50c because it is quite small. Just my 2c.

The Way 2 , the mule & the incused 50 cent are all human error ,mint staff did the wrong thing. Whereas the bubble is machine error.

with appleangel. I'm not knocking them. I love them and would keep each and every one I found. I just don't think they will get notoriety such as the incuse, wavy or mule.

The best explanation I have seen for the "wavy" was that the die was damaged by mint staff. It appaears to me that the bubble is similar. I think the die has been hit with something like a nail punch, leaving the indented circle in the surface of the die.

As there have been transitional finds, it indicates standard Cud development. While unusual in form, the most likely explanation is a bubble imperfection in the metal used to form the die that has given way during striking. Depending on whether this was an early or late state deterioration of the die will determine the ultimate scarcity.

Theres no comparison to a 1966 wavy base 20c to a 2010 bubble variety.

Quote: Theres no comparison to a 1966 wavy base 20c to a 2010 bubble variety. I agree. The bubble is an interesting - and collectable - variety, but errors that require a loupe to fully appreciate don't have the cachet of the more spectacular errors such as the wavy 2, or rotated dies; bubble is rather like the $1 Roo Cuds.
