I have to admit I didn't realize this coin is 42 mm in diameter. Anybody have a real picture of the coin?

Ships tomorrow! Looking forward! Especially the COA. Will the boutiques have them right away?

There were some pictures posted in the Titanic coin and stamp thread:

Thanks CC-Ottawa. It's a shame many products are delayed that much. Is this common in the past? Before this year?

As I recall, it's not uncommon but this year seems particularly bad. Some of the coins are delayed several weeks and in some cases, months. It seems like 90% of the coins that I have ordered in 2012 have been delayed once and sometimes twice.

It also seems that others are 'unofficially' delayed. For instance, the polar bear 24/20 took over two months to be delivered (although some people got them in a couple of weeks).

It is disappointing especially when you pre-order from dealers who charge CCs at the time of order per their sales policies.

I don't like it at all. The fever of Titanic is fading quickly and yet we don't have the coin, except the premium set by CP. I wish they would hold off releasing new-new coins until they have the new ones at hand.

The delay could result in presellers on ebay getting negged.

Called the Mint this morning to enquire about shipping for the 50 cents coins. Was told that mintage was 15,000:

2,000 were shipped "around" May 2.
7,000 are shipped "around" May 9.
6,000 will be shipped "around" May 16.

I tried to clarify the numbers shipped to individual customers versus the coins going for Canada Post sets. No luck. This doesn't make sense as Canada Post had the coins in their sets well before May 2 ?

Interesting. If there were really 15K individual coins at the release date, it would be a record that they sold out that fast. I hope the mint did not make 10K more after seeing the success of this coin in the secondary market. That may also hurt the selling of the CP sets.

I also wonder which dealers got the first batch. Presumably not CP.

Since I have not seen an actual picture of one of these in a clamshell or heard of anyone purporting to have one, I doubt that any have been shipped.

As well, I received my CP set w/ this coin April 13th.

Perhaps whomever you spoke to has been getting too close to the mercury store room?

Then again, maybe they shipped them via pack mule...and the mule died somewhere along Sussex Drive.

I am encouraged that they are suggesting that the coins will be shipped next week...though reluctant to believe that either.

How good was the apology for the delays?

Apology? Are you kidding?

The first person I talked to said shipping in 2 to 4 weeks and the second person gave me the story about coins being shipped in three waves. Who knows?

There are a few clamshells on e-bay (with actual pictures). They were posted yesterday. This is why I called the Mint to enquire about my order.

Oh I see one on ebay now - from TO dealer. That is encouraging. Thanks RCN.

Maybe they are at the postal outlets as that seems to often be the first place to find new coins. Worth a trip around to the 5 POs near me.

Ya - totally kidding about the apology.
