EF-40. Probably lightly dipped twice in two separate time period and didn't rinse off all the solution from the last dip.
If the price is right, that's OK with me Captain!

Price was fine even considering the dip, but I want an original coin, so it's going back.

Silver is a tough one for me to read. I can never tell if ones been cleaned. It's relatively easy to see it on a copper. Lol, I probably have an album full of cleaned Mercs.

Well, the thing that made me suspicious was that the coin clearly had seen circulation, but has virtually no discoloration or crud of any kind, and it's weirdly bright. The level of wear is lowish AU or close to it (the diagonal bands are still 3D across the whole fasces), but the level of luster is too low and the color is too white for that grade. It looks like a much lower grade in pictures just because the color is so flat.
Although the distinction isn't nearly as dramatic, it's like seeing a high-XF, low-AU copper coin that was still 100% red, not even any spots.
Honestly, in hand, it's really terrible or anything, but I am picky about my Mercs, particularly the scarcer dates.

I think it is an EF-40 cleaned,I see several hairlines on it due to cleaning.
