Mary, believe it or not, but there is a subset of numismatists who collect chocolate coins. I couldn't find a specific website, but they're out there. One of the hardest problems you may face is deciding on which coin field(s) to specialize, e.g., 19th century US or world, moderns, errors/varieties, Morgans , quarters, nickels, dimes, type coins (one of each kind), Bust Half Dollars, or a thousand other categories. Many of us can't decide, so try to collect everything which, as we all know, is impossible; it also tends to fill space in our homes such as a full room dedicated solely to coins. I've lately gotten interested in 2ç coins, but I've also lately become interested in Flying Eagle cents and a US type collections (See Dansco 7070 threads). I've also got an interesting collection of wooden nickels (exonumia). While I've generally concentrated on Morgans over the years, I keep breaking out and finding something new, so I've got coins from all over the world and all throughout time, most without any real organization.

Good luck on the currency!

Fred- Chocolate coin collectors? I guess they'd have to store their collection in a refrigerated safe deposit box. I see what you mean about deciding what to focus on. I'm kinda scattered and want to focus on about 10 things at once! But I'm going to start with a few things:
1. In grandma's collection, I'm going to start researching all of her Morgan's. Set aside 2 date/mint sets and a few extras, then sell the rest to complete the collection.
2. For my own personal collection, I'm going to concentrate on coins with fish on them. I have two other hobbies and both can be incorporated into coin collection. Fish have been my passion since I was 17, and I recently sold my fish related business so I miss them. This is a great way to continue that part of my life.
3. Since fish coins are all world coins and not US, I'm going to work on adding to Grandma's collection of world coins and try to get one coin from every country. I figure that while I'm buying fish coins on ebay, if a seller has some other world coins I don't have I can throw them in and save on shipping. Killing 2 birds with 1 stone!

All that said, I just finishing cataloguing the rest (hopefully!) of Grandma's collection. It's all under More Rolled Coins.

Edited to state that the total coin count was 3,325 individual coins. AMAZING!

Mary, as I mentioned in my first response, you have enough to start your own coin shop.

Actually, there are a lot of fishy US coins. They may be found frequently on ebay in the form of US Trade dollars, 1804 Bust Dollars, and many uncommon dates and mintmarks of Morgan silver dollars to mention a very few. We usually call them fakes or counterfeits, but they're still fishy!

I don't think a chocolate coin collection would last long around me, especially if they were mint chocolate.
