I ordered one CP set and a few individuals. And I'm not in a hurry to let them go, if I receive them all.

@CC-Ottawa: I would think the dip is temporary. The new Canada Post set is giving the buyers an opportunity to get the coin for cheaper than what they would be paying on ebay, plus whatever else is on the set. Once the set sells out I'm sure it will trend back upwards.

I'm looking forward to getting my two sets. Quite anxious to see what the fifty cent ends up looking like. The $10 silver looked much better than the RCM images. I am wary that it may not be the same way with the coloured fifty cent but I hope I am pleasantly surprised.

I just ordered mine from the Post Office." Yah sure the PO worker said, I've ordered one for myself." And now I know who got my Ladybug coin. It is kind of funny they don't order more for stock. I hope mine arrives this time.

It wouldn't surprise me to see the selling price for the individual RCM 50-cent coins settle in under $100 once they finally get distributed. It seems very possible that the run up in price was due to a good number of folks buying multiples of the coin with the intention of reselling them for a quick profit vs. collecting them. There have even been a number of posts here on CCF from folks indicating that they have bought the coin in quantity. This makes we wonder how strong the ongoing collector demand is going to be for the coin. Once the RCM delivers its coins, it's likely that a fair number of the coins are going to appear on ebay in short order which will really test how many collectors there are out there. If dozens of the coin are suddenly available, the sense of "rarity" will be gone. Also, by the time most of the coins get delivered, we will be on the other side of the anniversary date and its associated hype -- without the ongoing media attention, some impulse buyers may remove themselves from the market. I don't think anyone can say with certainty which way the price will go over the next few months. I think a good barometer will be how long the collector sets remain on sale on the Canada Post website. If they linger, it will indicate that demand has weakened; if they sell-out in the next week or two then it would appear demand remains. It'll be fun to watch!

commems, I think you have it 100%. Fun to watch for sure Incidentally, CP updated their website with additional information (a short slide show) including noting that the 50 cents is now only available in this set. Unfortunately, they still don't show how the coin is packaged. I'm curious to see if they issue it in a clam shell or use some other display. BTW, the set now shows as 'unavailable' when you add it to the cart on line. Not sure if that means it's only available at the post office now or not.

Is it normal not to be available online, but available at the post office? If not then it's sold out.

^^ that happens a lot, a couple times I have been to different Post Office outlets and they have items which are sold out online but still available in stores.

Interesting, both the set and the 10,000 Titanic Philatelic Numismatic Covers with the 25cent became unavailable on the issue day. If they are truly sold out, it could be that there is still quite a bit demand on the coin and confidence in value increase. Or it could be that the shipping date has been delayed.
I have no idea how CP allocates the products. I just found a Niobium Wolf at one post office today and a Niobium Deer at another in a Shoppers.

Just pick up the collector set from the main Post Office downtown Vancouver. Great set to own. They only have 8 sets this morning and only 2 left.

@sml - how was the 50 cent coin packaged/displayed? Was is in the clam shell like the RCM issue or some other display? My local Postal Outlet (in a drug store) had no Titanic coins but the TITANIC PHILATELIC NUMISMATIC COVER w/ the quarter was shipped today. Ordered Collector set yet to ship.

Both coins are nicely seating in the last page of the set (similar to the lunar zodiac coin/stamp set). No clam shell case or individual COA for the coins.
