Hi all,

Some bank notes have high value because of the error when printing or some other reasons. For example, "Devil Face" notes.

So if you get a coin with error on that, do you return for refund, exchange? Or keep it as a very unique and special coin.?

Please share your experiences. Thank you all!

Im not a collector of error coins, so I would never pay a high premium for an error coin. However, If I were to find one in my change, I would definitely keep it as long as the error is significant. For example, if there is a simple small die crack that will command little or no premium I would most likely just toss it back in to circulation. If the error is lets say, a missing letter or a clip, significant rotation, id keep that for sure
Rest in Peace

Mules are interesting (wrong reverse to obverse pairing) as are any 'twisted dies' eg: 1967 diving goose. But for the most part, I feel 'errors' are just that - mistakes that have degraded what might be a nice coin.

Got a 2003 (or 2005) Hologram Silver Maple Leaf once featured a misaligned holographic design in the centre. Apparently it's a know issue ( RCM confirmed they received complaints. I didn't care for it though, so listed it on ebay as a mule and sold it for a higher value

There does seem to be an upsurge recently in the value of varieties. Particularly the major varieties that warrant a separate listing in Charleton or on coinsandcanada.com. Those I collect (plus mules). But in general, I'm with RoyalSilver on this. If an error is visible and interesting I'll keep it and maybe pay a couple of extra bucks for it. But I'm not going to chase down every die crack variation.

I just found my 2012 COMMEMORATIVE LOON PROOF DOLLAR .9999 SILVER+GOLD having one scratch on Queen's face (maybe die damage?). It is from set "Fine Silver Proof Set - 200th anniversary of the War of 1812"

Any suggestion? Should I exchange with the new set with MINT?

^ Is it actually a scratch? Pictures would help. If it IS indeed a "scratch" I would personally try to exchange it for one without a scratch. Carefull though sometimes what may look like a scratch through the plastic may be something else altogether. Could also be a scratch on the plastic cover. Like I said, pictures would help.
