i need some help with grading this Shield nickel. it looks ef-40 to me but I'm not sure. all of the horizontal and vertical lines arefull and seperated the pic does not show this.

Lots of Cuds...wow! The reverse picture doesn't show the details very well, but I'm inclined to say VF35/XF40. The leaves show decent detail and the cross at the top has the outline showing.

What a great find with all those Cuds! I like the piece that was struck through on the reverse also. Great coin!

On the obverse, I see very faint signs of wear on the leaves. The rest of the details are outstanding. On the reverse, I see slight wear on the ends of the rays and the numeral looks a little flat, but this may be from the strike. I think this coin makes EF40.

thanks susanlynn9. I like this coin alot myself. I was think about selling it but my 6 year old daughter is into coins and I might just save it for her. I only paid $40 for it from a local dealer.

You could always go the ANACS route.Its about the quickest and easiest way.
