Willamette has had the No. #1 PCGS registry set for quite a while now and I have the No. #2. His is a terrific set. Much of the Willamette Set started in the wonderful Pullen Collection. Willamette is a very nice guy and we have swapped a few coins along the way for the mutual benefit of our sets. Numerically I cannot catch him even with a few upgrades, because he has the only VF brass cent and PCGS so heavily weights that coin in the set value. Although Willamette now labels his obverse portrait varieties, when last we talked he wasn't trying to collect the series that way. He seems content with the PCGS definition of the set. I prefer to define the Victorian set with all of the obverse and reverse varieties. To each his own (although he bought my books and should know better ). Before coingirl asks, all of Willamette's coin pics were taken with some strange lighting or white balance issue. On those occasions when we swapped coins, his MS coins arrived looking just as yellowish gold as mine, not reddish like the photos shown with his registry set. Here is my registry set, where you can see my 1893 to 1901 cents. All are PCGS MS-65 Red, except the 1898-H (MS-66 RB) and the 1900 (MS-64 Red). Perhaps I will join you again when you get to Edward. http://www.pcgs.com/SetRegistry/pub....aspx?s=9975Here is another set I like a lot. Of the three sets (Willamette, mine, and this one), this is the only one residing in Canada. I met the owner a 3 or 4 years ago when he came up to my table and bought my books. http://www.pcgs.com/SetRegistry/all...aspx?s=12420

Quote: all I want to know is WHY the coins are called RED..when in fact the images do not show the coin to be red.
My guess is that the US TPG started the RD/RB/BN breakdown, and when they moved into Canadian cents, kept the categories, even tho a different composition presents a different color.

I see number lynx only for Melron, pix and number lynx on both the other two. Clicking on lynx on any of the three takes you to $12.95, please. Clicking on the coins show pix.
