Well just stopped at the bank to see if they had anything new. She informed me she ordered the box of 1/2s for me. They had to order 2 boxes. I was like oh sweet, well I can only get 1 box but I'll get the other next week. Can't wait till Thursday when they come in.
Now to hope they are not Federal rolls of new 90s coins.

still, if you know they are new coins, they will sell for a premium on ebay. I have a bank that has alot of brand new 93Ds that I'm thinking about buying and holding.

You guys sound like you're having alot of fun roll hunting so I thought I'd give a try. I went to the bank and bought all the half dollars they had ($133) and I walked away with 2-90% Kennedys, 3-40%, and one Franklin. Cool thing was the Franklin was on the end of one of the rolls and the teller pointed it out to me. Ordered two $500 boxes to look through. Other than the silver what are some key dates I should look for?

well, another $500 box, and another skunk for silver. I may keep a few that appear BU, but only a couple. I think I'm going to sit on the sideline for a while; I get too frustrated opening those rolls with no silver staring back at me. :(

At least you were able toget your bank to order a box, or two. I can't get my bank to order the 2006-D cents, or even the 2007-D cents, much less the half-dollars. All they have is the "game-tokens", and I get rid of everyone that hits my hand! Maybe I am using the wrong bank, but I'm stuck with it! Too much trouble getting the Pension, and SS checks sent to another bank! Dick

Do what I do. Become a member of multiple banks. I have a Visa with one, a Mastercard with another and my home loan is with a third. I've never cancelled cards when I change banks. I don't particularly have to use each card, but it makes a customer and allows me to buy rolls of coins. I've been trying to get 'new' rolls. As pointed put the generally carry a premium on ebay. It's not unusual to get a $20 roll of new $1 coins and sell them on on ebay for $40. Nice turnaround. However, I simply keep a few rolls for the future and open the rest. I keep the Choice Uncirculated (CHU), i.e, no scratches or marks whatsoever. They are generally far and few between, so its not overly costly. They also have a premium attached to them. I also keep the errors, e.g. Cuds, die fills and planchet errors. The rest go back to a different bank. If I can't get new rolls (of any denomination) I simply ask for rolls of circulated coins and search through those. Never get discouraged. I opened 20 rolls (1000 coins) of new 2007 APEC $1. I found no errors and kept less that 40 CHU. If they turn out to have a low mintage, they'll be worth a few bob in the future. Its simply a big lucky dip. You never know what you'll find.

I don't mind getting skunked every now and then, but it's frustrating when the first five boxes I received had at least 10 silvers per box, and the next 7-8 that I've gotten have had NADA, zilch! Same boxes, same wrapping, but nada!

livingdinasaur - I just lucked up on a great bank. I have one account with a national bank, a local credit union account for cashing my EOB checks, etc. that is at my work. I saw a sign for "anywhere ATM" so figured I'd stop in to ask and see if they had any halves. Well the teller was so nice and customer oriented I about fell out. She had halves and gave them to me without question. Then she told me she had 23 Eisenhower dollars. She saved them for me till I could come back the next day with more cash. Since I travel sometimes and hate carrying alot of cash I just opened a checking account so could use the ATM when travel ($100 to open and no min). I asked about ordering halves and she said she would check into it. She told me the next time I came in she had ordered $1000 worth of halves for me. That same day I picked up $8.50 in halves (2 40% silver), new roll of Adams and Washington's she ordered for me, and all the other odd coins, $2 bills, etc. they hate to have in their drawers. The $2 bills, culls, and other stuff I really don't want I just deposit at a different bank. That way I keep them happy and they provide me with what I want. She is even going to save the foreign coins for me now instead of tossing them in the trash. Latest results from my trip was: $50 in dimes - zip, some filler coins was all $25 pennies - 3 Canada, 9 Wheat - 1 is a 58d and still RED!!!!! $8.50 halves - 2 40% silver $42 in $2 bills - zip $8 in nickles - zip $25 Washington - 1 coin w/ a Cud on the C in America (kept my 1st error of any type I've found since started to look) $25 Adams - zip Hopefully I will get my box of halves Friday.

Drove to a small city nearby, and picked up 280 worth of halves, and got nada, as well as 200 in Ike's with nothing new or interesting. I picked up my work order of 100, and got 2 40's and a 2002. Guess I shoulda just stayed local, lol. Have another city that has a stuffton that I am gonna search tomorrow, wish me luck...

Welp, drove about 50 miles roundtrip. The bank had $930 in halves - it was really great. I got one solid $20 roll of 40%'s, plus another 42 amongst the other rolls. Also got 3 proofs (2 - 2000-s, and 1 1995-S), plus 3 90%'s, and one was a 62-D Ben. All told I got 88 keepers out of just under a 1000 dollars worth. Not too bad, it paid for Gas and lunch w/ some left over! Updated my totals too...

My order of halves came in Friday. I picked up them, $25 in pennies, $20 in nickles, $100 in quarters, and $50 in dimes. My results are as follows: Halves - Franklin 1963, Kennedy 66 (2), 67 (6), 68D (5), 69D (2) Quarters - zip for me, my daughter found some State Quarters she needed Dimes - a few fillers, 1 Canada dime Nickles - 40, 46(2), 51, 55, 59 (2), and a few others 60 - 69. Also got a 2004 I need to take pictures of. The obverse is dull looking, yet the reverse is shinny. Pennies - 3 Canada, 1 Panama, 40, 46, 53D, 54S, 56, 56D, 57, and 58D (red-brown). I'm also working to make rolls of 69 back. Over all I was real happy with the halves. Going to turn in the rejects and pick up the other box of halves from the bank hopefully Monday.

Just picked up a box of pennies and just scanning through the rolls, I have already found 2 dimes, 3 canadian pennies, one british penny and four wheats - 1920, 3 1956. Looks to be a somewhat interesting box.

Picked up the 2nd box of $500 halves today. Was getting worried that it was a bust as $400 into the box I found not a thing. I finally finished up with a handful of keepers.
3 40% silver (67, 68, 69) 1 2004 Kennedy which I feel was pure luck to find since they only made them in rolls/bags sold by the mint.
Till next time.....
