Well I got all excited last week when went to my normal bank I buy rolls from. An older man was turning in rolls and rolls of coins to buy a CD. I was about to droll as I watched him turn in 10 rolls of halves, bundles of quarters, pennies, etc. Almost all of them looked to be in old wrappers. I was like oh boy jackpot. Soon as he was finsihed the teller looks at me and ask "Guessing you want some of these rolls". I was like yes ma'am. Walked out with all the halves, $100 in nickles, and $400 in quarters. Got in my truck and opened the halves as I couldn't wait. I got SKUNKED. It seems the older gentleman must also be a collector. The halves were all common dates. The quarters were all State Quarters. He had some rolls seperated out by state, and others with same year marks on them. In the end I kept 2 rolls of 99 Conn. and a new Fargo shotgun roll of 2000 SC. Everything else I turned in.

Just checked $30 in nickels - no silver but 3 39's, a couple from the '40s and the same for the '50s plus some updates and the elusive 2003-P that has taken me 4 years to find!! Not great, but still fun. I've only searched $200 in halves and now $30 in nickels and I'm still waiting my first silver ... I'll take old any day though!

Last week, I was on the road.... I went through $130 in halves Kenedy and found three 40% silver and $30 in dimes and found one 1958 silver. Now I am stuck with over $150 in coins that I have to carry around because I have to "dump" them at my own bank (none other bank want them). But they were glad to give the rolls to me at the first place - what's up with that..... This week, I am on the road again and start to pick up rolls....

What does everyone do with their halves and Presidential dollars after searching? Will the bank machines accept them or do they have to be rolled? I got searched 4 prez rolls and maybe keeping only one of the coins. Now I'm stuck. I'll give some away and take the rest to the bank if I can. Any ideas? Okay. I'm assuming these change machines accept halves and dollar coins. So why would someone bother rewrapping the halves?

I found a one-cent blank planchet this week. I still need to weigh it to see if it's copper or zinc. It is a type II (the edges are already milled, correct me if I got the type number backwards)

What are the chances of finding two 1996S Proof half dollars in the same box? They were two rolls apart--go figure.

I've been finding alot of 2004S proofs lately. My guess would be they came from the same source.

I went through a box of nickels, a box of pennies, and 3 boxes of halves this week. Nickels: 1 45-P, 25 pre 60's Pennies: 6 Wheats, about 10 Bu 60's and S-mints Halves: Box 1- 1WL (42-S), 1 64 K, 17 x 40%, and 1 87-P, Box 2: 3 x 40%, Box 3: 1 Pf, 1 NIFC (Whoo - a week with no Skunk boxes!)
On a side note, I also found a silver dime at work, and a Wheatie on the ground when I was turning in reject halves.
Good week - can't wait until next week!

Went through 3 boxes - Box 1: 6 40%, Box 2: El Skunko, Box 3: 2 64's, 1 40%, 1 2002-P, and 1 79-s proof. Not as good as last weeks or the week before, but better than nothing!

Just finished the weekly box of halves - 2 40%, 2 64's, 2 Franklins(50-D/62-D), 1 dateless WL, and 1 2006-P. Pretty flippin' sweet.

Hello, I like to roll hunt from my local bank, and I have found great coins from the rolls. I only collect penny varieties and error's and here is what I found in the last 2 weeks. My biggest find is the one that was eludeing me for 7 years and that is the 1999P Wide AM, I about fell off my chair when I found it in a roll, the 2nd was the 1997P DDO ear lobe, 3rd 1972P type 2 DDO, 4th 2002P DDO ear lobe this coin is very hard to find the ear lobe is near the collar on lincoln, then I found another type of 2002P DDO ear lobe and this was right on his cheek. Then in the other rolls that I got from the bank I found 3 2006P DDO ear lobes, then a type 2 20006P DDO ear lobe whgich is not to the left like the first but right underneath the lobe itself, this is not listed on coppercoins so I would think I woyuls have to send it to Bob Piazza for pictures for a New Discovery. I have also found some great wavy steps also, 1994,2001,2003,1989,1999,2005,2004 and they are the strong versions of the dies, so for now this is all I have to post for my latest finds I will post more also pictures of my finds. Thank you, 300 coin guy
