I'm starting to wonder if the bee coin is going to gain just as much value as the lady bug coin seeing how the mintage is at 10,000.

Probably not, but there may be renewed interest in the ladybug as it is now a series.

Quote: I'm starting to wonder if the bee coin is going to gain just as much value as the lady bug coin seeing how the mintage is at 10,000. Pure conjecture to follow: I think that the second issue in the series will help the Ladybug retain or increase it's value in the secondary market. And because it has done so well, I think collectors and speculators will grab up the Bees early. It likely won't do as well as the Ladybug in the long term because the bug has three advantages over the bee...it was the first of the series, the first of a new technology and the mintage was half (5k compared to 10k). Still at least one dealer has already priced the Bee at $250. On a side note, I'm not a big fan of either despite purchasing both. The addition of the glass for me makes this ornamental art rather than a coin. As well, the ladybug on my coin is just plain ugly - it doesn't look like a ladybug at all. The bee looks no better in pictures on the mint website.

I still think the glow in the dark coin will do well. It'll catch the eye of first time collectors and those buying for young people because of the low price and design. No reason to believe it won't go the way of the 2007 25 cent birds

Those are really nice gifts SilverBug. If they aren't already it's a good way to get them interested in the hobby.

Must admit, this coin is particularly interesting. I bought a few more for my kids.

I saw this thread last night, and all day at work today all I could think about was the 1kg fine silver coin, and the 1812 1/4 oz gold coin. Oh boy do I want them. Sadly It would be 3 weeks worth of pay cheques to get them, I guess I still have some time to day dream before they are released. If the mint had a ticker showing how many of the mintage was sold I really think they would sell out faster.

Just watch... every parent will buy their kids the glow in the dark coin, couple years down the road the value of the coin will triple. Next thing you know it the parents will be asking for it back haha

Is anyone planning on getting the 1812 gold? Seems to be going a little under the radar on the discussions here.

I was thinking yesterday about the 1812 gold. $569.95 for a proof coin and a mintage of 2000. I like it, but can't afford it right now. If it is still available next month, I might get it.
