VF35. Not sure if the scratch on the front is big enough to call a "problem" at this grade.

Would be EF-40 if it ain't for that scratch, and noticeable hairlines on the obverse.

Wow, while Mercs are far from my area of experience, I grabbed my ANA Standards and decided to chime in.

I would say VF-25 possibly VF-30

Can't be EF-40 because while bands on reverse may be worn details must be visible to be EF-40 and very few details are visible

I am a little concerned about the reverse. I am wondering if the 'tone' is hiding something from view or if the 'tone' is even authentic.... just saying.

I don't see anything particularly unusual about the color. It probably spent years in an old folder.
