Confirmed - they are available at mint.ca again I ordered another as well (for a family member). Bizarre that the mint suddenly has more, unless a large order was cancelled?!? |

Looks like they are gone again.."awaiting stock" and not available to be ordered on line. I think that means "use the telephone if you want one". I wonder if there is some sort of 'rule' that prevents dealers like Gatewest from selling for more than issue price if the mint has stock. So now that the mint is apparently sold out (again), dealers may be free to sell at a premium again. Let's see what happens to their prices.  Edited by CC-Ottawa

usually awaiting stock turns out to be sold out. I was wondering why gatewest had dropped their price will be interesting to see if it shoots back up as soon as they announce sold out again.

there is a review on RCM's website saying "Just received the e-mail and it was sold out and I was on the pre order list as I am on the Master list -- doesn't sound fair and now have to pay a premium" is it possible that a MC member pre-ordered the coin and got cancelled because of soldout? |

In the morning, when it was in "Awaiting Stock" mode, I called mint and asked to add this coin (one) to my another order.
They said it was sold out then they checked something and then put me on the waiting list. An hour ago I received a phone call confirming that they found a coin for me. Shipping is mid May though.
So, try calling them.

Seems a little odd to me, were the price to suddenly drop below issue price an analogy could be insider trading. I'm sure thats not the case but its just odd, almost like they lost track of their own inventory or someone didn't get the memo and changed it to sold out online...so long as folks don't start getting emails saying the mint regrettably is unable to fill the orders, its an interesting comical side note to the coin.

My theory is that a dealer cancelled a relatively large order. Given the reasonably tight systems the RCM has, I doubt they lost track of the ordering. I also find it interesting that the Vancouver dealer and the Kitchener dealer have not listed the glass bee on their websites. I thought maybe the latter were planning to put it in the BlowOut sale today but no. Very puzzling. Based on my recollection (feel free to add or correct), this is the post-mortem on the erratic flight of the bumblebee: Monday April 2nd -- Glass Bee (GB) available to Masters club members Thursday April 5th -- GB sold out Monday April 9th -- Winnipeg dealer offers GB for $139.95, then $179.95, then $199.95 Tuesday April 10th -- Mint offers GB again for $139.95, Winnipeg dealer lowers price to $139.95. After about 2 hours, the Mint changed status to ‘awaiting stock' and no longer takes orders. Winnipeg dealer re-raises price to $199.95 and accepts only phone orders. Any other theories on what the heck happened? |
