Has anyone contacted the Mint or Gatewest Coins lately on when they hope to get the cases? I ordered my coin with the case from Gatewest. And is there any truth as to the quality problems with the cases and that is why there is a delay? TIA

I contacted Gatewest Coins a few days ago regarding the cases and they told they had no idea when they will be getting the cases. They told me to contact the Mint for delivery times.
I have other coins in the same order as the cases and I not getting them either because Gatewest would not split orders.

Just called the Mint, they said the ETA for the box (and the first coin) is Mid-July. So there is a chance I will receive the second coin first.

@Shopaholic, thanks for asking about the box. I ordered mine from Gatewest so probably late July is when I'll get it. I seriously have to think whether I should get the second coin from the Mint or go to Canada Post.

@Mrpiedfort: No problem. I am also thinking about getting the second coin from CP. Won't get it from Mint again, wait time is too long and unpredictable.

Should order the 2nd group of seven coin now or wait until I get the box? I am afriad the coin is going to sell out before I get the box.

@MoneyPenney: If you ordered the subscription from the Mint already you don't need to do anything to order the second coin. You are guaranteed one.
As for ordering from Canada Post, I ordered the Lucky Loonie from them a few months ago and have still not received it. One of the independent dealers told me that they don't get coins any earlier from the mint than people who place an order online from the mint. It's all luck. Sometimes you'll get a coin right away, sometimes you have to wait a few months. But you may as well order from the mint to add to your MC total (for those of us who aren't MC members or are borderline).

Sometimes they have coins for months while web orders are still waiting to be shipped. E.g. Crystal Raindrop 2012, Grosbeak, 25c Bumblebee.

@unclekim: Yes, ''sometimes'' being the key word. My point is it's all random. I'm still waiting for the silver lucky loonie from CP, so obviously they didn't have that one before the mint. I'm willing to bet some people have received the lucky loonie directly from the Mint already.
I also received other coins directly from the mint within about 2 days after ordering, while other people are still waiting (like the group of 7 subscription). As best as I can tell, there's no way to predict who will get coins from the mint first. It's certainly not first come, first serve, and that seems to include the dealers (including CP).

I also believe that dealers get the coins first. I've been waiting for grosbeak, aster quarter, glass bee, and the dino since ordering on April 2; also waiting for the two loons and lucky loonie that I ordered in the next release on May 14th. All of those coins from April have been at Canada Post outlets near me for MONTHS. The two loons has been delivered to some people weeks ago and as far as I know, no one has the lucky loonie yet (latest 'ships on' is July 27). The only exception that I can speak to is the coloured Stampede quarter. I ordered one from the Mint and it arrived within a few days. I also ordered one from CP and am still waiting for it. The Stampede dollar was delivered quickly by RCM, but CP had it for sale before it was delivered to me. They had it at outlets the same day that it was even available for order from the mint. Of course this is all anecdotal evidence but still, I think dealers know about coins before we do (even MC), they can order before we can and they get the coins first.

Of course dealers get their coins first doesn't matter where in the world they are they get them first. I get dino's and titanic coins from Australia before I get them from our mint. I also know for a fact that dealers get previews of new coins before MC members and can order before all others even know the coins exist that comes from an authorized dealer that I do business with.

Forgot about the Titanic 50 cent. I received it from Gatewest before I got it from the Mint. So Ottawa-Winnipeg-Ottawa shipping was faster than coming across town.

BTW, I got Glow Dino from Colonial Acres but still waiting for it from both RCM and Gatewest. And it was available at CP weeks before I got it from Acres. So... I'd say it's (surprise! surprise!) TOTALLY random :)
