Very hard to pick wear on the reverse of these coins in higher grades, so I will go to the obverse. I think I can see a tiny amount of wear on Victoria's hair, above the ear. That's about it. How sharp is the edge millimg?
@sel_69I : Reverse is lustruous, one can't see that from my picture. Sorry about that.. The edge is pretty sharp, I mean you can feel it. If you want' I'll try to take a picture of it. It would be very hard, though. Thank you!
@trout1105 : Thank you! I don't know anything about Straits Settlements coins. I bought four of them last week. I will post pictures of all of them to know users' opinions. My question is: how hard were they struck? I mean, was the coinage very accurate, or not?
I think I made quite a deal with this coin: I paid only 17 euros for it! And I like it a lot!
Pictures of small coins sometimes don't do them justice. I was leaning toward AU before I thought about how much the picture magnifies the coin. I'd say that it could pass for low UNC.
Based on the wear on the hair (mainly above the ear)and the eyebrow, I would venture a likely grade of XF45 on the Queen Victoria side. On the obverse (10 cent side), cant be sure if those are hairlines.
Is a fair price for this coin.
