As the title states. I have about 70x 1965 pennies I want to go through but I can't seem to spot the difference between the blunt and pointed 5, also the small/large bead seems harder to see than the A to denticle from the 1940s...

Does anyone have any tricks or maybe better pictures to identify these? I saw the ones on coinsandcanada but they picture is not very good.

Thanks

For blunt vs pointed 5 it is referring to the angle of the right hand edge of the top bar of the 5 in the date. For pointed it angles more up and to the right making a more distinct point in the top right corner. Some can be a bit ambiguous so in general I call it blunt unless it's definitely a pointed as the blunt are significantly more common as you can see by the prices.

For the large vs small beads you're looking at the obverse around the picture of the queen. Personally I can't tell the difference without a good magnifying glass. If you put the two side by side you can see the large beads are slightly bigger, a bit closer to the rim and the A of Regina points at a bead (although I have a hard time with the last marker).

Here is a pic of a 65 Pointed that I had found. Once you see one you will not mistake it for the norm again. Good luck with your search.
