I've noticed some tellers get confused by coins, especially ones they don't see every day. I've had tellers give me incorrect change when I get halves. They're two to a dollar, how hard is that?

It's the cashier's job to see that every transaction balances, as in that's what she gets paid to do.
If SD double-checks her work, that's another layer of protection, but it should not be necessary.

Quote: Why would the teller jeopardize her employment to steal 100 bucks ! Cashiers do it all the time, that's why they have security cameras. $200 in, $100 for me, $100 for the bank, it's all cash, you prove it. Ever see a bit of change on top of a register? It means someone should be fired. Why?

One time I sent my wife to the bank with the usual kind of list: denomination on the left, face value on the right.
She came home with 50 fives, instead of $50 of fives. I called the bank, got the teller and explained why $200 was coming back. She was all sorts of apologetic, and said if I wasn't honest, they'd just be $200 short at the end of the day, with no way to see where it happened.

nothing yet. waiting for them to finish their "investigation" if anyone knows what that means, or have had a bank open one before let me know. I am very hopeful now. If they get a look at the tapes I am 100% sure they will see me give $200 and the teller counting or not counting the money in front of me. Again, I know she didnt becuase if she did count it while I was there she would have noticed the 5 extra bills..

The issue I would see would that the bank could see you give 10 bills, but won't be able to tell between 1,000 and 2,000 dimes.

no. she gave $100 dimes. that isn't the issue. I made the mistake of leaving and not making sure things were squared away.

$100 in dimes is what? 20 rolls. Did she have these rolls sitting around her window or did she have to go get them? Thats a good amount of weight. 40 rolls would almost have been a entire box.

andrew,
i was in a rush that day and was not about my wits.
i did not think of the weight until I was home and notices that I only received $100 in dimes. I ASKED for $200.. but was in such a rush I just gave the money in my wallet because I THOUGHT she nodded YES to we have my coins... anyway,
to rebuttal the question, I would think $100 in twenty's would feel different than $200 in twenty's.. no? it has some bulk to it

I wasn't saying anything, I was just trying to visualize the bulk and weight of the coins in question.
Thanks

Review the "tapes"...hee-hee, when's the last anyone's used a vcr? Are you guys stuck in the 90's? Seriously, SD, I wish you luck with this. I asked my wife her opinion what they'd do at her bank. She said review the tapes.
