Double check me though, because I may have missed it. The problem with identifying cash coins is that, when the government stopped issuing them in the early 1900's, several unsanctioned entities made their own coins to fill the gap. Further complicating the matter are various charms, good luck tokens, palace cash and birthday cash made that resemble circulated cash coins. The closest resemblance that I could find to your coin was here (scroll to number 13): http://www.charm.ru/library/turk.htm The characters are a good match to one side of you coin: http://www.charm.ru/images/palacecoin-b.jpg I believe that Krause lists this under palace cash. Initially, I thought if I were to do the ID, I was going to have a bit of a problem before it would have dawned on me that it was a charm, not a coin. coinsnpaper Valued Member Canada 480 Posts	Posted 05/01/2012 4:35 pm According to Schjoth, the top piece reads "Ch'ang-Ming-Fu-Kwei" Top-bottom-right-left, with the right character being on the top. That means "Long Life, Wealth, and Happiness". The other side reads "T'ien-Hsia-T'ai-P'ing" Top-bottom-right-left, with the right character being on the top. That means "Under Heaven Great Peace." The bottom side was used on many of the charms issued by new rulers. This piece looks like a 19-20th Century issue, and is probably not official. Report this Post to the Staff
