Glad to hear you sold it. Good luck on finding a replacement. There should be plenty to choose from.

Hey Monks- Ohh so this "Frosting" isn't just my bad luck lol ? Figured I just had a set that was stored in a bad place for years before I purchased it .. the envelope does have that "basement like" smell if that makes sense lol ..

I was as you can imagine pretty disappointed once I opened it .. Being the FIRST time I ever purchased a Sealed envelope .. this was quite a let down once I opened it .. Not so much because of the frostiness more so the scratch ..

Altho after the soak in water it cleaned up nice and the scratch wasnt as pronounced ... My eye went right to it lol ..

Was easy to sell tho , and got 25.$ for it ... And already found a replacement .. just waiting for it to come in the mail ... Still sealed in its cello but it was singled out to purchase . Sooo once that gets here and I have it in hand I will be updating this post to show everyone the upgrade :-) .

I do appreciate the honest replies , John1 Was really cool to be alittle worried that he maybe raining on my parade but , I came here thinking it had poor eye appeal and assumed it was MD but had to get word from others to confirm my guess .. (but now that I have the link for the thread with the Machine doubled Vs Hub Doubling things are making alot more sense and easier to spot ..)

This site is a great deal of help for all of us .. Really Glad I joined lol ..

Water , acetone . Are all I have used .. And alot of people also that I know of use MORE stuff then that .. (ms-70 is out there , and I've heard of people using goo-gone)
most the time I use anything ,its for alil glue or finger oil residue ..

But in this case , it already looked bad with the hazing so I had nothing to lose in my honest opinion .. it wound up working with just a little time in some distilled water .. didnt harm anything just took the "hazing" off ..

Everyone has their own opinion on "Cleaning" ...i really dont think you should clean any coins , and id never clean a Morgan lol nothing old ..This to me was a "why not see if it works" type of thing ..

acetone isn't always a safe bet so I hardly ever use it .. most times its just some good ole H2o ..

But again , personal preference and I dont recommend cleaning anything unless its basicly worth face value and you just want it to look good in a book ..

just did it to see how it would work on that ugly bugger there lol

only other coins I've soaked are all in my books so they were nothing of major Value or anything .. just somethings I wanted to clean up before I added to my books ...
