Still haven't found a silver quarter in CRH after box 2. My silver totals are now 4/5000 for dimes and 0/4200 for quarters. Did find 13 1973 RCMP SB and 1 1970. The RCMP SB quarters are fairly common, but I find it's a decent tracer year to gauge whether the rolls have been picked through since they're fairly conspicuous (although less so these days).
In terms of *silver value* per time searched, I would consider 4 dimes per 2 boxes to be roughly equivalent to 1 quarter per 2 boxes. So far dimes have the edge for me, but the numbers are still low given the scarcity.

Just finished going through my 3rd box of dimes. Found 3 silvers (63, 68, 68) and a single 1970. My silver finds are now at 2.33 dimes per box (7/7500).

Another box of quarters searched with no silver (0/6200). Found only 8 1973 SB and 1 1970, as well as an Italian 50 Lira and a UK 10 Pence. Overall I have found quarters the least satisfying of the four small denominations to look through. Probably going to give up looking through quarters. In my area at least, I declare dimes the winner!

It has been sometime now since I have went thought a box of quarters. Went thought one and my finds are 1- 1960 , 7-1968, 5-1973, 9-1974 2 with no reeding will be checking out ,but we do have a casino in town with slots? 8-1985, 1- complete roll of US with total of 94. The rest about 1-2 each year. Did not count but about 350 non caribou (province, poppy etc.). Way to many 2006-2012. Maybe today would be good day to try dimes as it's raining will post results soon.

I'm a student so I can only afford to take out a few rolls at a time, but so far I've only used one small branch and they've finally run out of dime rolls. Quarters are hopeless here as well.
1/3000 dimes (1965, funny enough in the third dime roll I ever took out) 0/600 quarters
One thing that slipped out one time is I said the years I was going for when I went to the bank, was that a mistake or does it matter? I'm sure someone at the bank can tell anyway.
I need to hit more branches and areas.

I check +- 5 rolls each of quarters & dimes per week here in the Maritimes. I focus more on penny & nickel rolls... Anyway, so far this year my haul is 2x quarters, '67 & '68, 7x dimes, oldest a 1950. And I found 1x '64 Roosevelt, in a roll of pennies! Go figure...

Actually a good question. They minted more dimes just about every year by a long shot so your odds of finding silver dimes compared to quarters is much greater. However, quarters have more weight(silver), so by the time it is all said and done you will need to find 2.5 times the amount of dimes to outweigh a quarter search.
Recap: Better chance to find silver dimes, but need to find almost 3 times as many to outweigh quarters.
Correct my math if I'm wrong.

True, but Morgan, in metro areas of Canada quarters aren't a great one to search. I don't know if it's like this in the States or not but they've virtually been completely hoarded in populous areas. I'm glad I got the advice to go with dimes first or I may never have found one with my limited budget and transportation.

Mercury maybe try asking for customer rolled coins. Most banks just recycle there coinage over and over and not much new stuff comes in and yes if you can try different banks and credit unions. I stay way from crimped rolls. Morgan does make a good point on the dimes to quarter difference and those dates are getting harder to see on the dimes. Did pick up the dimes 5 rolls down and 45 to go.

Well, the teller asked around and nobody seemed to have any dimes at all, would customer wrapped rolls be in a different location? Were the tellers just too lazy to take a trip to the vault?
it'd been probably three weeks since I had last asked for dimes anyway.
