My scenario re the quarter. Deal was transacted 'off' of ebay at a fair price for both parties. Why? Because 1) the buyer is well known as an ethical and respectable person. and 2) no seller is going to unload a 1K to 3K coin for the sake of saving a negative feedback.

If true, I suppose we could then discuss whether or not advertising such a coin on e-bay, then beating them out of their fees is ethical.

I said he's ethical, I didn't say he was a saint.(are you?) ebay's a big company, no big 'ethical' deal for me. If it's a mom and pop store, then I'm sure things would have been different.

Yes, I understand the rules. Over the years, I've slightly bent ebay rules a time or two. However, they've made plenty of money off of me. True, this is no reason or is justification to bending the rules. I'm just saying the 'small guy' likes to get one up on the 'big guy' once in a while.

I think we will have to respectfully agree to disagree on this one. If this coin sold outside of e-bay (and we do not know that it did) for half book value (say $2,000), then at 9% auction fees E-bay lost $180, not an insignificant amount. I don't like E-bay's fee structure any more than most people do, but I agreed to it when I signed up to use their service.

@RogerD Quote: Sure its not pretty but the rest of them aren't too fancy either, grade wise they are all in the same ballpark. That 1925 looks good to me! It took me quite awhile to get mine after I decided to collect Canadian nickels. Great piece

Here's a couple that just came in. 1875H 10c looks like a VF20 to me. And an 1884 10c ICCS VF20.

The 75-H looks much better than a vf20 but may have some surface issues.

if the 84 is a VF20, then your 75 is a VF30

That would be great if it was! I'm going to be sending it to CCCS for grading.

All I need for a 42 coin set now is the 1858 Canada Large Cent. I bought these recently on ebay. The others I either had or bought at the recent coin show. Some of those tougher dates are in VF and XF and look quite nice. These are probably a good sampling of the overall condition of my set. A couple common duds and a few really nicer coins mixed in. From top to bottom 1881H 1891 1894 1897 1898H 1900 no H 1907H 1915

I bought this Victory nickel the other day at Alliance Coin and Banknote in Almonte. I also bought an 1882 H large penny and a 1918 fish scale nickel (I will post pictures later).
