Why would you submit an offer of $10?

There is no way he would've offered to send that unless he makes a TON of money..

To err is human. It has happened to me, whereby the seller, while a little sheepish and embarrassed, had to ask me to cancel the purchase. Why not just graciously decline the coin? Why would you offer $10 for such a coin in the first place?

Not trying to be judgemental here, but assuming we have all the facts and it was just a seller clicking the wrong button on a ridiculous offer, if it were me, I would agree with the two Rogers and tell the seller to keep the coin.

Canadiancollector, Alliance Coins in Almonte is one of my favourite coin shops. Are you local to that area, or Ottawa?

Something isn't passing the sniff test here. Submitting a $10 offer on this coin doesn't make any sense, the seller accidentally accepting the offer, and the seller agreeing to go through the deal (costing him thousands).
I'm not rushing to judgment, but if those are the "facts", this sounds almost like an accounting scheme to write the value off more than anything else.

I agree that if the seller says he made this as an honest , I would not be able to keep the coin either. Even if he sends it as said, I would feel funny about it. Coins are nice, and money is nice, but friends/relationships with people are forever. Its not worth it to let a little piece of metal become so important that a person gets hurt over it.

CanadianCollector, always nice to see another collector in town. Are you a member of the Ottawa Numismatic Society? If not, you should think about joining... good group of collectors there. (Apologies for high-jacking the thread)

These showed up in the mail a few days ago, from the RCNA auction in Calgary. Believe it or not I was more excited to get the Nickel that the dime and they are worlds apart in grades. Now a few more years of saving and I can get the 1921 to finish the George Vs off.

Ooops, it seems I forgot the 1925 nickel. Sure its not pretty but the rest of them aren't too fancy either, grade wise they are all in the same ballpark.

What are the grades on the 1920 and 1925 5-cent pieces? That 1920 has a beautiful satin-like lustre to it...
