I find one about every $100 and consider them a score in my book. Sometimes they are just stuck on the back of another penny. Recently I started to find them in my rolls of halves. And yes the machine counted them as a half. In the end I think it all works itself out.

Earlier in this thread I posted that I had only found two dimes in about 15 months of sorting. Just today I sorted a roll with two dimes in it!

How do tell the hobby is starting to get to you?

When a junk dime in a penny roll is a disappointment.

AHAHAHAHA VGRX this is so true. I found a dime in a roll of pennies last night and when I flipped it over and it was a plain old 1990 I went "awwwww . . . . "

I don't sort pennies now. But I do find the annoying Q, D, P, in my half rolls. It's not common, but at least I'm not being shorted the entire 50 cents.

The best dime in a penny roll experience I had happened a while ago now (like three years ago). Back when I was new to penny sorting and only doing about 4 boxes a week.

I ended up finding a 1820 dime. It was worn but definitely in good condition, no holes bends or major scratching.

Aside from that I did find dimes in penny rolls. It wasn't very common. Maybe 1 for every $500 dollars. It could have been more frequent, but it wasn't something I kept track of. I focused more on the IHC's and George V. Dimes were just a nice little bonus.

I have found a couple of dimes in my limited cent searching experience (maybe 10 boxes). For some reason the coinstar machine I use also counts cents as dimes from time to time. Last dump gave credit for 2 dimes and I am 100% sure they were all cents.

Finding dimes in penny rolls is always a nice thing, unless they jam up your ryedale :)

If you're finding a lot of pennies in your dime rolls and your bank isn't doing anything about it. I would say it's time to switch to a new supply bank.

When I was younger, I got a load of pennies for a project and this was not a lot of pennies, mind you. I found maybe 10 0.01€ and enough US cents to kill a guy. And dont forget, this was back when the dollar was 2 to a pound. Cents were worth basically nothing this side of the pond.

Although, it was good in america, because everything was cheap (fuel for 20p a litre? And less? Yes please. And haribo was £1 here and $1 there).
