They charge high shipping fee and sold out before the public release day,
Just to push you guys to buy from their exclusive dealers. More profits instead of selling at a issue price.
That's why they advertise the new coins 1-2 months in advance and never tell the actual price.
It is dark business. (just like undertable)

Interesting way of thinking.
Why do you think that selling at discount to dealers generates more revenue to mint than selling directly at their price?
APMEX sells Taku 25-30$ cheaper than mint, so mint would have had extra 30K profit (per 1000 coins) if they sold directly.
Very dark conspiracy, that's for sure :)

I get this thinking after reading what people say about this mint.
Someone said it is private own.
If it is true, it is easy to understand.
It is also depend on how hit the coin is. We are here to discuss about the Shark coin, not the general popular one.
Time will tell, wait till middle of July see if this coin is availalbe for publlic order.
At this moment the status is "Out of Stock".

For what it's worth (which isn't much coming from a brand new account I know), I ordered Shark and Koi coins through DWS on redflagdeals.

(could have sworn I had an account here..)

Are the person in RFD still taking group buy order for the Shark and Koi? How to contact them to place order and deposit?
I did place an order on the forum month ago. But did not received any instruction how to deposit. Now, he said on the forum that order taking is closed.

Thanks!

Does this shark coin has a bite mark that go through coin?
The reverse design has "unique bite-marks piercing through the coin."
The obverse design does not have any bite-marks holes.

I just ordered the Shark coin alongside with the Taku Turtle and the Feng Shui Ones. The Shark coin is available only from end July. I think it has the bite mark that goes inside, but not through. Cannot confirm yet

It was confirmed by a dealer in NZ on another forum that the holes do go all the way through the coin!
She said that she actually confirmed with the Mint.

The obverse would be a generic picture of their coins.

Out of curiosity, anyone know why this thread is happening in the Canadian commemoratives section vs. the World coins section? Am I missing something?

First, can't find a forum for NZmint
Second and the most reason. Many canadian love these two coins and want to know more about them. There is a huge group buy on RFD (Buyers are from all over Canada), and many individual collector order this coin from Powercoin, APMEX...

For those who do not like this topic, then just skip it.

I'm glad they did post it here. Very few world coins are bought by me. This is one of the few.
