All three known dot cents were originally owned by mint employees, bringing their origin into question.A circulated coin would vindicate those supposedly involved.

In my crystal ball, far into the future, I am seeing a record-setting E-Bay auction... for the length of time an item goes unsold. (it's never good when seller and the market are a few digits apart) Personally, I wouldn't buy this for $1 (even if the forum rules allowed it). I could simply get one of these from China with a real dot. Sorry for my doubtfulness, but in any case: and best wishes.

Do a google search, find a dealer nearby, get their opinion and then let us know.

Take it to the Coin Cabinet, Moncton, New Brunswick. I suspect the gas in your tank will cost more than the value of that coin...

@DBM: Remember the 1954 NSF one cent found by a member in circulated condition, and certified? I don't think circulated would prove anything with respect to origin. Some kid could have really wanted gum. @bpositive: The origin of the 1936 dot one cent and ten cent has always been controversial. Many think they are a "backdoor job", meaning mint employees created the varieties deliberately to make a valuable rarity. @SPP-Ottawa: You think they would even consider the possibility of it being real? Dealers have all been bitten by fakes.

If youre convinced its a dot then go out and buy a $100 camera with high MP and a good macro. The cost will be insignificant compared to that of the coin youre sure youve found.

@dialog_gvf: Of course not. I don't believe it is a genuine 1936 dot, but perhaps a dealer with the coin in hand can explain it better than we can with poor resolution photos. I suspect, to steal a quote from Star Wars, that: Quote: This is not the coin you are looking for...

Does anyone know a website I can fix images? like make them bigger without Ruining the details? when I make it bigger, it gets all blocky/square pixels. Il keep trying though... I know il get a GOOD picture soon. :)

Gentlemen I don't think we should be encouraging bpositive to invest in more equipment such as a camera. From his previous posts he has already alluded to having to borrow money to get the coins he has. He has also shown the classic newbie over enthusiasm about his other finds. I don't believe he has the skill set to determine an error from damage at this point in his new found hobby. Chances of his actually having a dot cent are extremely small to say the least. Perhaps it would be more helpful to explain how to increase the dpi on his scanner than tell him to spend funds on a camera.
