It was just a joke! Really where is the sense of Humor in finding a 400,000 coin!

The $400K was the last auction price for the finest known example (SP-66). If this was real, it would be worth considerably less (actually, so would the SP-66 coin).
Hypothetical: You paid $400K for what you thought was one of three known examples. How much extra would you pay to keep general knowledge of new examples quiet?

Yesterday, December 7, 1941, I mean June 12, 2012 -- a date which will live in infamy -- a user named bpositive of Canada was suddenly and deliberately compelled to post on the Coin Community forums with his latest find, the elusive 1936 dot penny. Every user of the forums previously believed they were only three known examples discovered. Little did we know that on that infamous day we would be proven wrong. With the dazzling photos that user bpositive spent four hours taking and editing, we were all convinced. Not one among us could deny the obvious truth; we had just witnessed forum history as the most valuable Canadian coin was unveiled before our eyes. For once I was blind, now I see. There is no doubt in my heart, nay my soul, that on that day I was reborn. To be part of something so special I can scarcely begin to conjure up the words to describe by feelings. I leave you with Phil Collins "In the Air Tonight" single, which can best sum my feelings up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mNaO7FGaDYThank you bpostive, you'll never know how much this means to me, Adiue

Quote: Im expecting around 250,000$ - 1,000,000$+ For this History Changing Penny. Ok, now THAT was funny.... Hypothetically, even if it is legitimate, and you do get it certified, the grade will be the lowest known. Expect an order of magnitude less than the last sale of the lowest known certified 1936 dot cent (I think it is MS-63 Red, and sold for $275K a few years ago - this was the famous one that was stolen, and then found. I still think it is a specimen example). http://coins.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleN...&lotNo=14312Note that the $400K price tag from the Canadiana auction was for the highest graded known (SP-66 Red), which was originally part of a dot specimen set. The location of the dot is not a place where one would expect excessive erosion or circulation wear on that coin. The 'dot' would be protected somewhat between the date and the rim, the latter of which appears to be still quite intact and strong. If you look at the examples of the specimen coins known, that dot is fully struck and strong. I am not convinced...

Thanks for your comment SPP Ottawa, I just said 250k quick.. I did not think about the grading of the coin due to the excitement.. Although what you said about the dot being protected.. is this 100% true? if so how did you find out? mine has wear on it, although still can see it through the naked eye.
il be taking more scans and bigger pictures later on

If I were to think about it. Probably no grading company would mark it genuine because of how much it would effect the price and they may receive a lot of bad criticism.

That does not mean I Cannot sell it as is though . And I'm SURE there is someone out there who can Certify it, Despite it Causing price change & criticism... It would be A Shame If any Grader would Not Grade it Because of those reasons. I'f Nobody steps up... I will do my best to try to get this on the news, once they question it, they will have no choice but to certify it! Also if I were to think about it.. This one Should be more SCARCE, As it could be the Dot penny that Proved Everybody wrong, and they made an error in the history on this penny. THERE ARE MORE THEN 3! I have Proof that there is more then 3... Because I got the 4TH 1936 DOT PENNY! * posting more pics soon BIGGER this time *
