CC Ottawa, how do you know this? Not that I'm doubting you, I just want to know where you get your advanced information from.

@ barriecarson, if you want to see the photos and the specs for some of the upcoming coins, including the 25th anniversary loonie....
Go to the first page of this thread. Take a look at the last post on the first page. Follow the instructions. I just tested them out a minuet ago and the photos are still live.
I would prefer to upload the pics but I do not want the RCMintP to delete the thread.

There is an easier way to find the pictures and other information about up coming Mint releases. Just do a web search for Redflagdeals. Once you are in Redflagdeals, go to the Personal Finance forum and look under the RFD collector and Numismatic coins forum and you will find all the infomation you want. The pictures can be found on page 212, 246. And there is lot of discussion about past and upcoming coins in that forum.

Coins are already available for preorder at CanadaPost (and somebody even managed to place an order at RCM!) so I don't see how discussing them here can do any harm.

Absolutely not. Unless you see RCM have the coin on their site. Otherwise it is not allow to do so. On RFD people have more freedom for their discussion.

BTW, formally speaking, rules prohibit any private info from RCM site. So photos of publicly available CP catalogue are NOT a violation of CC policies.

@ unclekim, you might be right, you might be wrong. There is this disclaimer at the bottom of the catalog. If its too small for anybody to read, it says: Warning: Unauthorized reproduction or release of information prior to sale date may lead to serious sanctions. That sale date is July 16, 2012. This makes this catalog is private to the Post Office and not for the general public.

Then OK, although it's strange: how they (CP) sell this stuff if the Sale Date is Jul 16? People report some locations do not accept orders for the Blessing coin as limit is 1 per location and it's been already ordered.

if RCM doesn't want you to know, why buy coins from it?

@ Lith: Quote: That gold panda could skyrocket in the aftermarket. My bet's on the gold panda as well. Pricey, but it has a lot going for it; it's low mintage, the first panda by the RCM, has a decent design, and its predecessors (the ones with similar mintage) are doing quite well as well a few years after launch. The $20 Silver Canadian Coast Guard ice breaker seems like a cool idea to me too. Bit of novelty thrown in with the steal piece of the ice breaker in a vial. One of few times the RCM did something like this I think. Just might work with 7,500. Quote:if RCM doesn't want you to know, why buy coins from it? if I didn't like RCM NCLT coins, why would I hang around the Canadian NCLT forum

I wouldn't call it "doing well" :)

@unclekim: Ya, the 2010 one is the only one whose price has been stagnant, likely due to its slightly higher mintage and unpopular design (gold fish and lions are much more sought after by chinese standards). The last 2009 and 2011 coins that sold on ebay went for $950 (2009, issue price was under $800), $1200 (2009), and $1500 (2010), which isn't bad at all.

Real mintage info: Blessings of Happiness 99999 Pure Gold 1/3oz Coin (2011) - 880, official mintage limit - 888 Blessings of Strength $150 Pure Gold Coin (2010) - 765, official mintage limit - 1388 Blessings of Wealth Pure Gold 1/3 oz coin (2009) - 1,273, official mintage limit - 5000
So 2010 has lower mintage than planned 2012! I'm not saying it's a bad deal, I'm saying it's just a $988.88 gamble :)

I will see how it sells. If it goes to "Phone orders only" during MasterClub week, then I might even jump on this wagon myself ;-)
