SlurExe97, good snag, I have not found a Cindy Klassen coloured coin yet, have the others, Men's and Women's Hockey in colour and lots of Klassen no colour.

Thanks SilverDon. The only colorised quarters I need to find are the other two Olympic ones and the Peregrine Falcon. I find any colorised quarter to be quite elusive, might go through a dozen or so of the before I find a colorised one. I don't find so much difference in frequency if its counterpart is frosted, though, like the War of 1812 quarters. But they are both harder to find.
I usually just spend the Olympic quarters since they're so common, unless it is exceptionally nice.

Just found a 1968 silver 10c. My first silver in five years.

Quote: Did you notice your 2012 loonie and toonie are old version which have very limited mintage? Yes, indeed I noticed them. I've only seen a few of the 'old-style' loonies and toonies, so of course I have to keep them . Silver is very hard to find, but I got a 1943 dime at work about three weeks ago. Almost two weeks ago, I saw a dull edge in a coworker's till, turning out to be a 1957 quarter. These are the oldest silver coins I have for both denominations, except for a 1948 quarter I received from my Grandmother's neighbour.

Nice, a 1924.... but, are you able to post a clearer photo of the obverse? I don't like how the bridge of the nose bleeds into the fields...

Yes I am terribly limited by my 8.3mp phone camera, but here is another shot. Well circulated, but cost me a cent.

Got this from the campus cafeteria yesterday. This is my second 2012 old style toonie from circulation (the first was over a year ago from somewhere in Mississauga). Sadly there's a nasty scratch down the obverse. Still need to keep an eye out for the loonie.

Found these 3 beauties. My iPad doesn't do them justice! Plus 4 pink ribbons, 2 2004 poppies, 1 2010 double poppy, colored Cindy Klassen, 3 quarter horses, 5 1992 provincials, $3 US quarters, $4 of mixed 1812s and a few others.

I have a suspicion that the bulk of the old composition 2012 toonies still existing were sent out east, and the bulk of the old composition loonies made it out west; I found two loonies (one when they were new, one late last year), but after reading some posts here stressing just how few might still be circulating after the accident (the reclaimed coins were supposedly all melted down), I splurged the other week and bought one of those from ebay - I'm still on the lookout for one, but don't expect to find one 'in the wild'...

I went back a couple pages to read on finds, I don't exactly know how non-circulating coins can be included in this thread (eg: silver dollars or fifty cent pieces), but this one stood out to me; Hokaia (13-6-15) Quote:I work in a liquor store... So, anything is possible for what we obtain! Whoa! It's too bad the one dollar bill (same post) was cut from a small roll of them - I remember when the $1 bill was discontinued, and seeing in the years afterwards people who had picture frames full of uncut bills - I always thought that was cool.

Hello Squinton and Welcome to the forum, Is that 1972 Quarter a Proof Like or Specimen coin? Looks pretty nice from the picture for a 43 year old coin.

I would say it's a proof, more shiny than the specimen type that seems to have more of a matte finish. Unfortunately there is a fairly large scratch on the other side of the coin, oh well!

Squinton - great 1972 find! Even with the iPad pics, it is obviously in great shape. I haven't found any poppy quarters yet. Quote: Got this from the campus cafeteria yesterday. This is my second 2012 old style toonie from circulation. Solid find. Those sure are not common. If it makes you feel any better, I've found 3 and all had some coin roller damage. Quote: I don't exactly know how non-circulating coins can be included in this thread (eg: silver dollars or fifty cent pieces) These coins are still considered legal tender and occasionally show up in circulation; silver dollars/50 cent pieces like you said are usually found at banks, of all places. I've seen two post-1968 50 cent coins in the past 3 years at work.
