All the fake Chinese coins I've encountered can be picked up with a magnet. I don't bother with any other test if I can pull them with the magnet. These were very popular at the local flea markets about 8 to 10 years ago. I was watching people buy them in plastic coin pages by the dozens. I just watched and shook my head. After a few weeks, the dealer still had hundreds and he was selling less and less. I'm surprised nobody clobbered him.
