Quote: This Globe and Mail article from 2013 is a good background on the BOC gold coins, not similar to XforX in any regard. Thanks for refreshing the memories, Wildflower! "Your golden opportunity" and "Exchange the $20 bill from your pocket for Silver Coin" are my favorite RCM's marketing slogans

If Canada Post workers are locked out at the end of June, what happens to our deliveries of subscriptions from the RCM? Do they use UPS or another delivery company? And, their monthly new releases?

Quote: Banks have been accepting them. So many have been turned in, in fact, that new limits have been put in place as to the number you can order. Also, I believe the $100 and $200 coins for this year have been cancelled. The 100 for 100 and 200 for 200 subscriptions no longer appear in that category nor is the 200 for 200 listed. You have to do a search for them. I had an interesting visit with TD today and managed to redeem 3 of the 100 for 100 coins (Eagle, Big Horn Sheep & Canadian Horse), though I hated to let them go. Perhaps they will end up in a collection overseas. After speaking to a second person who contacted their securities department and explaining what they were, mint policy, redemption process and directing him to the RCM website, I was successful in getting the amount deposited to my line of credit. Understandably the fellow had never seen them before but I still felt I had to reassure him they were purchased by me and that I wasn't there just to take the money and run. This will save me hauling them to the RCNA Convention and the bank should be able to recoup shipping charges with the $6 they earn.

I don't have the time to read through the entire thread. Someone please fill me in on this: RCM created those coins. If I took them to the boutique in Vancouver, can I get cash for them, or do I have to buy something with them?

if you go to a RCM store, you have to buy something, or else find a bank that will redeem them for cash..it wouldn't hurt to call ahead to the bank you choose to see if they are aware of the redemption procedures.

@Petersun I went to Mint Boutique months ago, staffs told me no redemption ( to get cash ), only using coins as credit to purchase other coins but certain limits applied. Anyway, went to Park Royal's TD bank in West Vancouver, cash in most of my face value coins with no hassle. Roughly 100pcs for total $3000+. p.s. Stop collecting these face value coins before RCM changing its redemption policy.

News from the other forum: RCM just "killed" face value series, made it un-attractive for tons of collectors: Quote: Effective July 1, 2016 Today, Face-Value coins will no longer count towards Master Club. now they actually may remove of ridiculous limit of 3

I've canceled all $x for $x subscriptions. If they are tough to redeem anywhere, I'd might as well put my money towards other coins. But with that being said, I doubt I'll spend $2000 this year on coins. The $x for $x series helped many maintain MC status.

@ Redzapsid. You may discover that you can enjoy the hobby much more when it's not dominated by RCM and their releases each month. Spending enough money to maintain MC status, that seems more like an obligation than a voluntary pursuit.

I'm in the camp that believes eliminating the $X for $X coins from counting toward MC status is a good thing. Too many were exploiting a loop hole in the system to the overall detriment of the intended purpose of the coins.

Well, I'm keeping X for X collecting regardless. I'm only buying 3 or 4 to sort them out and to keep the best one of the lot. The others I sell back on ebay (at a slight loss perhaps). I'm not interested in keeping MC status - I've lost that status already. From my narrow minded NCLT perspective, I think X for X's are too good to be true.
