Well, I'm keeping X for X collecting regardless............From my narrow minded NCLT perspective, I think X for X's are too good to be true.

You collect X for X with such obvious enthusiasm, it would be a shame if you quit.

If they are no longer bought for the sole sake of purchases counting toward MC membership, then quickly being redeemed, perhaps in the future the high mintage will be reduced which would be a good thing as they might stand a chance of being worth more than face. That'd work for RCM as well by minimizing outright redemptions.

It's about time for this change, the RCM has been trying to weed out the mc who mainly bought the x for x coins, it makes the mc program with too many members, thus overloading the reps, now maybe they can reward the real mc. Still amazing how long it took the RCM to make such a simple obvious change, typical crown corp.

Correct said, John
These coins really suffered from being purchased for the MC status boost, and other "free meals" upgrades.
Although due large quantities of these and lame themes, I do not find them attractive any more, but keeping first ten as a great subset.

Perhaps now that face value coins don't count towards MC, they will loosen some restrictions. I always like to purchase some of those face value items for my children, but it's extra work for me when there is sometimes a limit of 1 per house.

These x for x were meant to attract new customers, like I said before it must cost the RCM 4 to 5 bucks each for shipping and handling, plus redeeming fees latter.

News from the other forum:
RCM just "killed" face value series, made it un-attractive for tons of collectors:

I'm not convinced the "other forum" is correct about XforX not counting toward MC status any longer. According to RCMs website, "Eligible" (or not) refers to XforX not counting toward MC Rewards, which is the program that rewards platinum members a percentage of their purchases.

Trying to stay on topic, see my post here:

Glad you posted this. That was my first thought. The other forum has it all wrong. I believe the purchase of x for x coins will continue to be allowed toward MC status.

Reps are probably off for the weekend but they can confirm the status of x for x for MC.

Just looking at the mint website for the MC it doesn't seem like X for X no longer counts towards MC status. I did find this "Eligible RCM Products means any products the RCM is offering for sale, with the exception of any and all regular circulation coin rolls, such as any roll of five cent coins, ten cent coins, and/or twenty-five cent coins as well as any roll of one dollar coins and/or two dollar coins; any ?Face Value? coins (for example: coins sold as $20 for $20, $50 for $50, $100 for $100, etc.) or any commemorative circulation coin products." However I think that statement only applies to the new "Masters Club Rewards" that was implemented.

The terms have most definitely been changed for the July 2016 - June 2017 period and clearly state this both under the "Masters Club Rewards" heading and in the FAQ.

Interestingly enough the 5 packs, coin boards and other circulation related items are also on the non-eligible list.

Certainly this doesn't effect past eligibility as the rules are not retroactive, but going forward it will have a significant impact.

Notice the reference to Eligible RCM Products and the double asterisk associated to the Rewards Program.

"There is no membership fee. A RCM customer automatically becomes a Masters Club Member upon purchase of $1,000 CAD (exclusive of any taxes) or more of RCM product(s)." And once again, reference to "Eligible RCM Products" refers to Platinum Rewards.

I suppose it's possible RCM's disclosure is incorrect because I agree that XforX shouldn't be included in any tier membership.

FWIW, I read that as FV continues to count towards MC but is not included in the calculation of the rebate code/MC bucks or whatever they are calling the 1-1.5%. Sort of makes sense.

This is what I understood from the information given under the double asterisks as well.

I'm pretty sure $x for $x coins do not count towards mc status nor can they be bought by redeeming accumulated amounts eared with the new changes to the loyalty program.

According to the information posted by wildflowerAB, X for X for coins do not qualify for the RCM reward program but nowhere does it mention x for X coins do not qualify toward MC status.

or any commemorative circulation coin products

This excludes all Circulation Sets (including silver circulation sets, priced $200) from that eligibility - rebates 1%-1.5% or MC status (depends on understanding).
So the XforX coins it is only small part of non-eligible items....

While with XforX it clear, but why the overpriced Loonie roll is also here (as example)
