Interesting classified ad token from the Herald & Examiner (Chicago I believe) promoting the paper for job advertising and job seekers. Token is 28mm and made from brass. I'm not certain when this was made but I believe it could be from the mid 1920's to 1930's.

There is very little information to be found but what I have found makes me believe that there were early tokens (1920's - 1930's) and possible restrikes (1960's to 1970's). What few others I have found are different on the obverse. The font style is newer and the letters are thinner. On the others there is a single dot before and after the words "Blackface Index". On my token there are 3 dots with older and thicker style font letters.

The Chicago Herald and Examiner was from 1918 - 1939 and then renamed Chicago Herald American up to 1953....

Any other info and history is appreciated....

John1,thanks for the link. Nice to know this is from Cook County.

The obverse on the one in the link is like the other two I have found which is completely different than the one I have. It would appear that there may be different varities of this token ?
Rest in Peace
