Where did you see these Andy? Any images anywhere?

Meanwhile, Willings report a fake 2014 Royal Shield with nice looking motto: https://www.facebook.com/WillingsSe...e=1&theater, separately there's been a report of a fake 2013 Royal Shield but image quality was poor.

My how things have changed.....
Was just browsing 10 pages back on this thread (Looking for input on my possible fakes before sorting them out,.... still haven't found any)
and came across this...

Quote:

Oh and DaytR - I keep them in a tray at the moment...

Fake-£1

That was my whole fake collection just 16 months ago (Minus the Possibles and 4 fake £2's I had)....

in comparison.... this is it now !

Fake-£1

Orange = Fake £1 Collection (Over half are doubled up in the trays)
Red = Possibles
Yellow = Fake £2's
Green = To be 'processed' and uploaded.

While I'm here... here's a few newbies yet to hit the website. (First two were part of a lot I bought, the third was found in circ a couple of weeks ago)

Anyone seen anything like the cross or the bottom dragon ?
(Incidentally the top one should be a Dragon too)

My old lady has found a few nice fakes for me recently....

1) An Egyptian arch with the motto of my hoard coins, but instead of the diagonal scratches under the arch, it has the 'tree rings' similar to Egyptian3 http://ukfakeanderrorcoins.50webs.c...GYPTIAN3.jpg

Fake-£1

2) A new one on me, but not one I'm surprised to see...

The reverse and motto of Millennium5.2 http://ukfakeanderrorcoins.50webs.c...NNIUM5.2.jpg with the obverse (& motto) of Menai8.2http://ukfakeanderrorcoins.50webs.c...MENAI8.2.jpg

Fake-£1

This makes me more interested to see the Decus motto of Archraz's coin on Page19 of this thread,
to see what I can tie it in with using that.

wow ok so this really is bad form (Last 3 replies have been me) but I've updated the £2 coin page on my website to show 9 different Chinese fakes. - http://ukfakeanderrorcoins.50webs.com/OTHERS.HTML

Interestingly, there are two manufacturers producing some of these coins.

Our usual suspect is selling these....

Fake-£1

Whereas I have come across these which are slightly smaller, lighter and definitely a different factory
(Notice the J6 instead of JB on the Rev, and the IRB on the obv is actually 1RB)
(I have a second example on its way, from the same source (via someone else), but with a motto!!)

Part of the motto:

Wow, been a while since I posted on here !

So.... here's the coin I posted earlier in the circulation finds thread, Clipped Planchet error on a fake coin !! Absolutely love this thing.
(Complete with blakesley effect)

Fake-£1

and this is a new one I bought on ebay, just because it was cheap and was a design date combo I didn't have.... It turns out to be one of the best fakes I think I've ever seen !!
It IS a Magic Motto series, of which I have a few coins spanning a few designs, but they ALL have something visual that gave them away, whether it be partial clogged letters on the motto, weak patches on the design, etc etc but this coin has none of those ! The only thing wrong with it is the date, it's 1995 not 1992 !
Fake-£1

The only other giveaway is something you wouldn't even notice unless looking for it... is the space between the cross and DECUS is a few mm shorter than the real coin.

(Fake is the top one)
Fake-£1

Also just to note, for those who know about the 'Hoard' coins.... I've found 3 in the past week in the City Center (after not finding any for months and months).... I have to wonder whether another batch has been brought up here !!
--------------

So as some may have noted, I now have my own LANI coin, and can confirm the obverse is the same dies as that from the fake Mary Rose and I'm 90% sure the reverse is the same one used on the 2015 Technology fakes (but modified)

In other Fake £2 news

There are variations popping up all over now, all Chinese in origin, from the same factory that brought us most of the coins in the link above.

New Variations are :

Mary Rose with 2015 dated Obverse. (Mary Rose REV & Magna Carta OBV)
2015 Royal Navy with correct (Undated) Obverse. (Navy REV & Kitchener OBV) - On its way.

and another using the Kitchener OBV which I'm keeping quiet until I have one

Just for you RED
2000 & 2001 Celtic cross, the 2000 looks like the die is ready to give up the ghost.
Both coins are showing some form of undertype on the obverse, not sure what it is though

Wow you weren't kidding about the 2000 die ! I'm surprised it was still usable.

Here's the one variant from the above post I have in hand.... hopefully the others will follow soon.

Nothing special, just using the correct (undated) obverse.

Fake-£1

It's using the same dies as the top Kitchener in the post a few up (Notice the scratches on the queens cheek... same/very similar on both coins)

That portrait on the £2 makes me feel sick every time I look at it.
Here is another £1 I got yesterday,
Welsh Dragon, dated 1996 ( issued 95 & 2000 )
Edge inscription - Decus Et Tutamen
Weight - 9.40g

That's a good one Tenbob, it appears to record the point when one of the most used edge motto dies in Third Portrait nickel-brass fakes broke up (finally?). It had already been repaired once, as there are two main versions of it with different spacings between the words and details lost in one of the versions, which were recorded in the DJ Cane article for Coin News, February 2000.

Yeah that is a nice one !
I do have one with some damage to the motto (Confined to DECUS) which incidentally is a 1996 Dragon too.
Yours also appears to have the same rotated die clash behind the queens neck.

While I'm here... say hello to my little friend....

Fake-£1

Here's a comparison showing how golden/brassy it is.

Fake-£1

When compared to the one Andy has, it appears to be the same, even the rim dings on the edge appear identical.
