A bit more challenging from kinda crappy pictures, but what do you think? EF40? 45? ... maybe low end AU? She has a black eye too, BTW. Chance Edited by Chancellor Sutler 08/09/2012 04:43 am

What do you say to Lady Liberty with a black eye? Nothing, Uncle Sam already spoke to that

I'd bet my eye teeth its been cleaned. It was priced at G-6 money though, so I don't feel like I got hosed. It's not the most attractive seated half in my collection, but a decent type coin for somebody on a budget. I didn't need it for my 7070. The 1843 below is my representative. I need one with arrows at the date to complete my Seated halves in the Dansco. Chance

Speaking of environmental damage ... I just finished burying a handful of coins that I got in a type set that were hideously polished. I used an air eraser to matte the polished surfaces and remove any silicone residue, and the acid rain will do the rest.
There was nothing noteworthy in the set unless you count the 1901-S morgan. It was low grade though. It's taking a dirt nap now.
Environmental damage will be a step up for those coins.

How look do you plan on having them in the dirt?

I figure it'll only take a few weeks in this part of the country. There's been a lot of strip mining here and the soil has relatively high sulphur content.
In the air eraser ... I used baking soda. They looked so pitifully white when I buried them.
Once I take them from the soil and rinse them off, I may carry the whole pocketful for a week or so.

The 61 isn't without problems, but it's a dandy for a 35 dollar coin. The 43 was a whole bunch more samoalians. I keep hoping to stumble across a nice w/arrows specimen for not a lot of dough ... but not yet.
